Leo Vince Carbon Fiber Installed On 6th Gen

:D LeoVince CF Evo II Installed today.  Pretty straightforward except for one missing spring that was packaged separately with the up pipe (?).    I know it's a cliche' but pics don't do 'em justice.  Much higher build quality than I expected and everything fit right the first time.  Nice to see the CF is double up where the endcaps rivet on, nice touch.  They Y pipe is a true Y and the S bend is smooth with no kinks or dents.  The springs take incredible force to attach but they give you a tool that helps tremendously.  They also came with metal logo plates one can rivet on.  They came out of the box with stickers on them.  Hmmmm, leave 'em on or not? Sound:  about the closest example I can come up with is a 'vette or 5.0 mustang with one of those catback systems that aren't loud yet have a nice growl.  These pipes are road legal in Europe with a removeable baffle (aka spud).   The pipes are only 12 inches long so this baffle is pretty darn effective.  I suspect they are pretty loud without it.  These pipes are perfect for what I wanted.  Performance sound quality but not quantity.   The police chief literally lives 2 blocks away.    I've done one before so I know a low level bafflectomy would have produced the db level I desired but I also wanted something nicer to look at and shed some weight.  http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif   Edit:  Decided stickers must go!  They are the good metal type so even tho' I ran them up to normal operating temps a few times they peeled right off.  Also added another pic with the rear fender assembly installed. Done  see original post.  They are still smoking off all the "newness" on the insides and it looks pretty cool.  And talk about stink, I never smelled anything as nasty as these while they cure.

$680 plus 15 ship from morepoweracing.com  Alum approx $525 but backordered from LV importer.  Great service.  They sound like folks who might entertain a group buy and are in the pac northwest.

Ditto.  I like the sound.  Not too loud but deep enough.  Just hate those stinkin badges!

They still look good though.  I would still buy them.  :D  Good choice!

The metal pipes and end pieces look like titanium, or are they satin-finished aluminum?  Also, how much weight would you say you've saved over the stock cans?

I think they are satin aluminum.  I would think they would cost much more if it were ti.  I don't have the paperwork with me but IIRC they are 4.3kg which is 9.4 lbs.  I seemed to recall the stock assembly is 22lbs.  Anyone confirm/deny that?

They look right, tight, and light! Some smaller burnished aluminum badges would look just right. Still, these look better than Lasers to me.

I have had the aluminum ones for some time now and they keep sounding better and better.

Do you know if these can be used with the Fender Eliminator?  I do not in the least miss that wind sail of a fender, and like the way the kit tucks the the plate up and in between the stock cans.  I saw a red VFR at the Toronto Motorcycle Show this weekend, but it also had the stock fender and it was tricky to determine if there was enough space left between the cans to accomodate the kit and plate.

Anyone know a good place in Canada to pick these up?

As in rafartist's case, my aluminum Leo Vince cans have been sounding better and better in the two months since I installed them.  I hope this maturation process continues over the coming season.  The noise is plenty deep, and the finish is indeed of very good quality.

I made my own fender eliminator out of a piece of aluminum and mounted it farther back in the undertray and bent it up a little.  It is lit up so I dont expect any problems from the man.  But you can take the plastic off of that mud flap and shorten the factory piece with a hack saw and make it work in the factory position, just a lot cleaner looking.

Jigga bought the same CF system as mine.  He asked for measurements from me before ordering and says the fender eliminator fits:

Mandatory?  No, but well worth it for more reasons than just getting an exhaust.  A PC3 or TFI box (what I use) will also eliminate the 4.5k hiccup and smooth out the vtec transition in addition to richening up the mix for pipes.

Hmm... Do you need to get the O2 eliminators with the Techlusion TFi Box. I've never herd of the Techlusion TFi Box, but  the price is definetly better.

You don't HAVE to use the 02 elim's with the TFI (I do tho') since it only modifies the stock signal but it's mandatory with the PC3.   But don't buy the elims from them.  Go to radio shack and get a package of bare 330 ohm resistors.   Does the same thing and it's only 99 cents!  There's a how-to here on VFRd. :thumbsup:

Inspired by this article, I just put on my Leo Vince SBKs.  I got the aluminum because I love the look of shiny aluminium on my bike.  The Anniversary Wannabe looks Sweet!  Thanks for the helpfull article.

That's the first time I've seen the license plate flush up against the undertail with LV cans.  With every other bike I've seen with LV cans, they had to put spacers between the fender eliminator and the undertail because there wasn't sufficient room between the cans for the license plate to fit.  I don't think I'll be buying cans anytime soon but not being able to secure the license plate flush up against the undertail is the primary reason I ruled out LV cans a while back.

I've been meaning to start a thread on the topic of rating exhaust decibel levels.  I obviously wouldn't expect to anybody to conduct a formal scientific analysis, but what I've been wanting to know, more or less, is in what order would you rate the following cans (from quietest to loudest)?

Leo Vince
Remus
Micron
Staintune
Devil
Laser
Scorpion
Hindle
Two Bros.
+ any other brand I'm missing

P.S. I don't know if it matters, but it would be for a 6th gen. VFR.

I just tried your sound clip and it made the freakin' cat jump off my lap.  It scared her so badly that she almost impaled the boys during her rather abrupt departure. :idea3:

Thanks for the write up on the LVs.When I first got my bike I was sure I would put Staintunes on it.
Well that all changed after I heard several LV sound clips on here and you tube.
I am now waiting at my back door for my new LVs to arrive.

Thanks for the photos it will help me when I put them on next week.
I was looking on LVs website and they suggest that you disconnect the battery prior to install. Something about allowing the cpu to reset.


PS......... I'm glad to know whose big a** stickers will come off

The plate definitely fits between the cans if it's one of the more common smaller sizes, but some States and Provinces use these huge-ass plates that are almost the width of a car plate!

I absolutely love these pipes and wouldn't trade them for any other made for the 6th gen.

I'm thinking of ordering a set of leo's in carbon....  do the factory bags still fit?  anyone have pics?

Very nice pics.  I took some when I put my LVs on, but my pics don't compare with yours.  I was too excited to get the cans mounted to stop and take decent pics . . . .
