Gas Mileage

I know its currently beeing discussed in the 5th generation forum but what gas mileage are u guys getting?

On my 91 i avg around 200km's (125miles) until the light comes on and i fill it with 13L (3,43Gl) so that is aprox 6.5l/100kms =36mpg


Now i ride hard at times let it warm up for a good 5 mins when starting it up. Will be very interested to see what ur fuel consumptions are?

Also once the light turns on how many kms/miles do i have left ? or how many liters/gallons do i have left?

Mines also a 91. I get a max of 215kms before the ol Viffer starts to go chug chug. And thats mostly on the hwy.
I've only had the old girl for 2 months now. Too scared to see how many kms left there is in reserve.....i guess thats old age!!! i'd hate to push the bike to the nearest petrol bowser.

There is also a thread on this forum on fuel economy. You'll find that you have a lot of miles left when the fuel light comes on.
At one time I thought I was going to run out of fuel as we (6 viffers, 1 cbr) had been riding the twisties in Germany at a moderately spirited pace and my bike started to chug after 210km/130mls, where it normally does about 240km/150mls before I have to switch to reserve. Nothing to worry about as a petrol station is hardly ever more than 20mls away. Other riders were also getting low on fuel so we decided to fill up at the nearest gas station. But having crossed the border going into Belgium, we found that on sundays there is no service and you need a company card to be be able to get fuel, credit card won't do (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/huh.gif) So with switching to reserve at 210km/130mls, knowing that there is about 4.5L/1.2gal of fuel left that will take you another 70-75km/44-48mls, estimated total "milage" is about 280km/175mls. Being already a bit more easy on the throttle, I got a bit nervous as the odometer showed 260km/160mls and no gas station in sight and with the needle of the fuel gauge sitting stationary passed the red square, as it can't give you a lower reading (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/ohmy.gif) At 280km/175mls we finally crossed the Dutch border and I knew it wouldn't be long before I was able to fill 'er up again. Well I made it and I was a bit suprised to see it took only 17L/4.5gal. So even then it had still some miles left in it (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/biggrin.gif)

When touring/commuting I regularly hit 180+ mls before I fill up, a bit less now as it is getting colder.

6.5 liters / 100km seems ok, I get this as well.

The light comes on around 275km on the trip meter.
This then gives me another 60km before it is running on vapour.

The fuel indicator stays well above half for a long time and then drops rapidly; I donot look at it. Just keep an eye on the trip meter.

Now, a couple of flat-out runs on the german Autobahn really gulps up the fuel..... (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/wheel.gif)

:)on my '94 I get around 36mpg commuting to work, on the highway on my last long trip 42mpg at between 95-105mph. Fuel light comes on around 180miles If I remember right 215 miles 5.085 gal, in theory that would leave approximatly 17 miles before empty (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/wheel.gif)
