LMAO. 5th gens are great, but don't neglect the 4th or 6th gens. All can be found for reasonable prices. Most are in good shape. Craigslist and ebay are good places to start. When I was looking for bikes, I just put a vfr/interceptor ebay search in my favorites and checked it every couple of days (OK, so it was every couple of hours goofy.gif ). Limited the search to within 250 miles or so. Found my bike in Columbus - pristine pics, 40 something y/o guy with kids and usually had his wife on the back on rides. Well-kept yard in the background. 7300 miles, never down, just serviced and carbs cleaned. I had a decent conversation with the guy for about 30 minutes or so, he seemed reasonable and didn't hesitate on answering any of my questions. I figured I couldn't go wrong and placed a bid (nice advantage of using ebay is having a contract to buy the bike so its not sold by the time you make the trip). My buddy took me down there and I had a nice ride back. And lived happily ever after....
One piece of advice - test out the electrical system. A bad regulator/rectifier is an expensive replacement (400 w/ parts and labor). Maybe ask the owner if he will "warranty" a bad r/r for 2 months or so.
PS: any woman who buys me a motorcycle will get just about whatever she wants.....

Ya think we can have that statement published in every womans magazine in the country? Like articles on the cover of Cosmopolitan " How to get your man to give you anything you want." idea3.gif

Woot buy your man a bike, I would make my wife read this thread but she would just say "why do you need me to buy you a bike when you just go out & buy what you want anyway".

I would look hard at the 4th gen because it is great value for money with a budget in mind & will call out for some tinkering. I luv my 4th gen & my 6th gen, but the 4th gen is my fav.
