I did 100+ up in NH and around on monday on the gsxr, the vfr is sleeping right now and she is a pain to wake up. Thursday is promising to be 60s so i am planning another 100+ day up in MA and NH. This will probably be the close to the last for the year. Wish i had heated something that would make things a little nicer, but i am going to just try to be hardcore and handle it.

I am the floor manager and head waitress at a local restaurant. I usually work straight from Thanksgiving which is a 14 hr day to chirstmas eve, which we are closed. This year i broke that habit because i watch the weather channel like no ones business. Since i make my own schedule i get to decide my rare day off. Don't be jealous just think, nights holidays and weekends are the norm where i work. Hope your ride was safe! Next week looks some what dry, and if the salt trucks stay in on Monday then maybe a freezing cold ride! Sunday the 10 is about 40 F sound good to anyone?
This morning was 42 degrees when I woke up at 7:00AM. Of course I rode the VFR to work, tonight will drop down in the 20's, if there is white stuff on the driveway tomorrow morning I won't be riding.
Hope some of you north people got out today over 50 is a good day in my book. Snowing when i came home from work around 11pm, and snow tonite. Would have rode but that work thing gets in the way..

Sunday is looking good, too, but can't ride then either. I'm going out for a little ride on Saturday, though.
Projected 50 on sunday and 51 on Wednesday. I will take it for december. Hopefully there is not salt on the major roads after the dusting that we got up near boston last night. I am pulling two double sat and sun so get out for me!
Well, I got what I wished for today and I took advantage of it to the MAX.
I started out today with a temp in the high 30's (all temps in F). By noon is was in the high 40's and by 1PM it was peaking at 54F. What a glorious day.
I knew today would be a high mileage day so I went to Cycel Gear and bought a pair of First Gear insulated riding pants. OMG, these things are awesome.
Highlights of the day...
-Learned how slippery paint stripes can be when I clipped the apex of a beautiful sweeper with visibility all the way through and beyond. I wasn't leaning heavy but I was hanging off a skosh, nonetheless. When I clipped the paint stripes it was just like hitting a tar snake mid summer only more slick. Needless to say, it gave my heart an extra beat and I got to learn something new. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/smile.gif)
-Learned about what a difference proper wind breaking makes. At highway speeds in excess of 80 I had no trouble staying warm.
-Got to put 200 miles on the VFR today. I started at around 11AM and stopped at around 5PM. As I rode I stopped and visited a relative, did some shopping, etc. You know, I just took it easy. I rode up into some of my favorite parts of western CT and had a blast. Today was an odd day because there was almost no traffic and the passing lanes seemed to show up at the right time, every time and were always clear. (Hard to believe, eh?)
-At the very end of the day I got to twist the throttle real good near my house. There is a long, straight strip that is great for testing mods but lousy for LEO visibility. I took it up to an indicated 135 in a quick sprint from 80. It was all over in under a mile and it was a blast.
As I write this I find myself taking a long, deep sigh of satisfaction. Even though its been less than 2 weeks since my last ride it still feels like forever. Going out and getting a good 200 mile day without feeling rushed or pressured was just the ticket.
I hope that you guys out on the left coast know how lucky you have it. We might get another good day or two this week and then it's up to God and Good Luck if we get any more good days between now and Mar. 1.

On the subject of outside temp's, how accurate do you feel the VFR's external temprature gauge is? I see 30-35 degrees on my morning commute through the local canyon. It feel's cold, but not that cold.
I commute about 30 miles inland every day, from Laguna beach to Anaheim(GO Angels). Now I wont evan start to complain that it's real cold, but 30 starts to just bite. Mabey a set of heated grips might make it nice. Switching from the RC51 to the VFR made a big differance allready. People at work think I'm "Hard Core". Oh Please, I'd like to here form people who have really had there temp gauges reading low. Will it read - degrees?

It's cool that your riding in it though. I'd say your "Hard Core".
That's usually when I'm on my way home after night shift. Michelin Macadam on the rear, Pilot Power on the front. No radical lean angles though, (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/sad.gif) freeway to & from work.
I only have the VFR, it's either ride or use public transport.
Well, this wound up to be nearly a 400 mile week for me. We got good weather on Sunday and I put 200 miles on. Then, today it went up to SIXTY DEGREES. It was so nice. I just took it out and rode, rode, rode. I put on over 120 miles. Today, I was in the mood for performance so I kept the revs up in each gear and spent a lot of time in the high double digits and low triples. I'd say that I spiked it a 120 a couple of times when I was confronted with clean, dry, straight, open slab.
What a gorgeous day it was today. If tomorrow is like today was I'll be out again.
In CT, every day of riding after Dec. 1 is like 3 days of riding during the regular season. It truly feels like I'm stealing from Jack Frost.
With 6 more days to the start of winter I have to begin watching the news to see if a Winter Day One ride is going to be possible
The best part of all of this is that my wife really understands it. She it totally cool with the fact that I want to get out and ride as much as I do. Sometimes, life is good like that.

I went riding on December 29th 2006 and left work early today to get in a few hours of riding time on January 3 2007. I may not be riding steady everyday, but at least I can get my fix once in a while anyway. I hope this doesn't jinx the nice weather now. TheOxmole has to go riding on his birthday you know, it's a tradition he started just last year! LOL!!

I totally agree...but we're going to PAY hard for this weather...I don't even have my snow blower out of the freaking basement yet!

I went out today and I was out last Friday and have added about 150 miles to the odo. Not a whole lot but give me a break, it's January in Ohio! Mind you, I put the bike away for the winter once already. It was in the low 40s both days. If I don't get out next Friday for my birthday I'll be OK with it. But if someone wants to get me some heated grips for my birthday. . . . (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/laugh.gif)

Wow, Peabody Mass. I grew up there in presidential hights, on Eisenhower road. Very pretty country, but I have been in Cali since 1970. Hijack over.

Off topic-I live on Rt 1, been in the area since 1980. Father was a Peabody kid though born in 1955. California is looking better and better every year i tell ya. On topic, rode Thursday locally, feels good to get the bike out in January. If Saturday is dry i think i will try to get out again. The roads are a little dirty and messy so got to be careful out there!
