tuesday morning I come out to find that someone stolen my right side Bar end. a day later (and a lot of swearing) the bike is cutting out. I'll roll on in any gear and the bike will die and the cut back in causing a hiccup ( i think the engine is cutting out and then being simoltaneously bump started) it seems that it only happens whenever the bike is in gear or when I try to blip the throttle to downshift. whats wrong with my bike? healllp!!!
More details:
Modifications-
Power Commander?
Mileage?
What Gas?
Recent Maintenence?
Spark Plugs Age?
Sounds like the bike is going rich and falling on its face untill the cyl's blow out the un burnt gas.
What happens when the bike fires back up, does it afterfire or anything?
mods: micron pipe kn air filter Larger horns new R/R l.e.d. accent lights in the custom dash
no power commander
31K mi
I did plugs and oil in sep. ngk platinums
What are your Static/Idle/5k rpm Voltages?
Doubt that will be the culprit, but that is the week point on the VFR.
Possibly water in the float bowls. Drain 'em and continue checking for a different problem.

He has a 5th gen, Fuel Injectors. None of those stinking carb thingies.
more likely the screw came loose and the bar end fell off than stolen.
have you lifted the tank recently? make sure you don't have a pinch fuel line. also check system voltage with a volt meter while riding.
Well if sombody actually stole your bar end I would suspect they were after the control and not just the bar end. I would unscrew the two screws at the bottom and take a look inside perhaps there is damage to the wireing of the switches. Maybe they disconnected a wire somewhere partially and its getting intermittent connection - like the kill switch!
Probably more like vandalizm than theft? Who would steal a bar end anyway? Those things seem to fall off by themselves. They come loose with vibration, mine did anyway. The only reason I knew was because the damn thing hit me in the leg when it came off. I replaced it with throttle miesters.
If you can see any obvious damage to the switchs then yea take a look at the fuel tank lines like mentioned above.
2 QUICK THINGS TO LOOK AT
1. side stand switch/wiring
2. clutch switch/wiring
problems with both these will cause cut out if in gear.
i don't know if it's related to your bar end. is it alot colder now than the last time you rode??? mine was doing something similar a few winters ago. it would hesitate and stall almost between 3-5k...but only when i was riding....not when it was just sitting and idling. i made all of those mods....aftermarket exhauast, bmc filter, opened the air box up....turns out it was running waaaaaay lean, and the colder air exacerbated the prob. i got a power commander, loaded a richer map and it fixed the problem. you will have to do the same most likely, or go back to the stock set up.
