Cartridge Dissasembly, 3rd Gen

i cant seem to figure out how to get to the compression and rebound valves in my cartridge. how do u disassemble these things? i can see two little holes in the bottom of the cartridge, are these possibly for removal with some kind of spaner or just bleed holes?

here are some pics for those of you that need them. one of the bottom, and one of the top where the damping rod goes in.

In the bottom photo, push the piece into the tube and remove the round wire spring clip from within the tube. The piece will slide out if you screw the bolt into the piece to pull it out.

hmm. i could have sworn i tried that already. i guess ill have to give it another go!

Sometimes they can be stuck. I like to put the bolt back in a couple of turns and use it to knock the assembly in to expose the retaining ring. The bolt also helps when it comes time to pull the valving out. The o-ring tends to get caught at the retaining ring groove, so you'll to pull on it fairly hard.

got it out. it was stuck so i used a socket and a hammer to dislodge it, and once the ring was out, i used the damper rod to push it out. damn those valves are alot tinyer than i thought they would be!
