I thought it would be a good day to ride being it was 53f at noon..I take off and ride the back roads and work my way into town where all the idiots are... I was stopped at a red light when some 16-18yr old kid pulls up next to me in his Camaro and starts revving his engine, i just look at him and shamefuly nod my head in shame and the light turns green and he is off in a flash and i just take my time puting along to the next light which is red...
The kid looks over at me and starts revving his engine again, i look down the highway and see a white car parked about 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile away on the side of the road, so i rev my bike up and when the light turns green i do a quick 1,2nd,3rd and i am doing 45 the speed limit well the kid blows by me and before he knows it the lights on top of the car are lit and he gets a ticket.yep it was an unmarked state boy on the side of the road.....HA HA HA

You have certainly nailed that guy wheel.gif
Don't cagers realise that they must spend at least 50K to defy the laws of physics?
#3
i've done that as well.... what a great feeling!

I thought it was funny because the kid was running hard and didnt let off the gas until after he passed the cop....probably doing 90-100 when he went by the cop...i just cruised by and the kid was flipping me off...ha ha , i didnt get a ticket so i could smile behind my helmet..another cage bites the dust!

OH by the way i found a good website to ask cops questions and to see how they feel about sportbikes....www.Officer.com....boy 75% just hate sportbikes...

Similar to what sport bikers think of cops... dry.gif
In all honesty we give them plenty of reason not to like us. Not necessarily us, but squids. Hell I talked to a cop that was responding to our burglar alarm and he was telling me how he never stops when a cop tries to pull him over on his GSXR. I asked him, "don’t you know about professional courtesy?” and he just said "not worth the hassle to pull over." blink.gif

I was just out trying to enjoy riding and some dumb kid just has to be a squid with a car..GAWD..I did get to put about 200 miles on the viffer yesterday and really break in the new back tire...

the police were out heavy yesterday /state/local and i rode south and found some twisty roads to run .
#10
See, that to me is funny. He wants to race, gets a ticket, then flips you off because it is obviously your fault. Its like people that 'brake check' me when I flash my lights at them when they are going 65 in the left lane and the other lanes are wide open...

Laughable but a very sad commentary on the current crop of children.

Apparently he believes that you are responsible for his misfortune. A day or so ago, someone mentioned lack of personal responsibility. hehehe

Some of them actually do learn, but it seems like fewer and fewer ever make it.

Sometimes I wonder if the degree of pain it takes for them to learn is on this side of where Darwin stands or somewhere beyond Darwin.

I had a BMW driver fly past me on Boxing Day, double demerit points for speeding, seat belt & helmet (for bikes) offences. A few km up the road there was a Highway Patrol car waiting...

Kaching!!

Now that is a funny story. I run into a lot of people that think for some reason that whatever stock car they are driving can somehow find a way to beat any stock sportbike. A couple of years ago while riding with a buddy of mine I had a Ferrari pull up next to me and rev his engine. The guy must have thought that he was invincible. He had the top down, radio blaring and just thought for some reason that there was no way he would be able to not outrun me.
My buddy on his R1 started laughing at the guy, loud enough so he could hear. The Ferrari driver just wouldn't let up though. He kept revving and looking over, creeping the car up. When the light turned green I let him pull away as fast as he could muster. Unlike him, I had already checked for everything around me. He pulled away, got about 2 bike lengths ahead of me and I could hear him winding the crap out of his car and going through the gears. He saw me go by when I hit 2nd and I could hear him running into 3rd. When we got to the next light I think that he realized his mistake.

Not something that I normally do, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make him look like an idiot.

I did the same thing to a guy in a Viper one day. Hard bags, ST windscreen and the whole deal on the Viffer. What idiots........

I've had a kid or two "race" me away from a stoplight. Sometimes I'll play along, but I usually don't. Sometimes I'll do what Nailer did - open it up right up to the speed limit, then back off. Even then I'm not WOT, just enough to show who really has the advantage off the line.

Power-to-weight ratio is just screaming on sportbikes compared to most cages. Even some of those big v-twin cruisers do 0-60 in 4 seconds or less. (See the article in this month's Cycle World.)

My favourite incident was a few years ago, when I was driving back to work after lunch, in the SUV we had at the time. The road between our place and the motorway is 4 lanes, and goes downhill with a few ups'n'downs, and a slight curve before the end. This eejit was following right up my tailpipe, getting all ornery because he couldn't pass (cars parked in places on the outside lane, as it wasn't rush hour).
I sped up a bit, but he was still on my tail, and still looking pissed off.

Up ahead, I saw a car in my lane, indicating to turn, and the outside lane was free. I sped up a little more so Mr Impatient wouldn't pass, then just before I got to the turning car, I whacked on the indicator, and changed lanes.

I looked in my mirrors, and all I could see was a huge cloud of tyre smoke. I dunno whether Mr Impatient stopped in time, but I'd say he would've needed a change of undies after that...

Heh heh....
Naughty of me I know, but very satisfying.

With people that want to race at the traffic lights, I usually ignore them, but occasionally I'll just blow them away. Sometimes I take the other tack, and make like I'm all set to race, then just take off from the lights slowly. One time I was in my son's Peugeot 205GTi, and I'd been drinking, and some BoiRacR in a hotted-up Japanese car pulled up alongside me, obviously thinking this old 1990 piece of French crap would soon me eating his dust.
WRONG!
It may be only 135hp, but then it's also only 870kg, and has torque everywhere, courtesy of a longish stroke 8V engine, heh heh...
I even got blown away by one once on my VFR. (But I didn't realise it was a race, and forgot to join in!)

I had a similar experience a few years back...

Idiot is sitting on my back wheel on a freeway in peak hour. I sped up a few times, no difference. Then I saw a bag up ahead in the middle of my lane. And a evil thought came into my head. idea3.gif

I aimed straight for this bag, & swerved at the last moment. Looked in my mirrors & saw a huge cloud of smoke.

My cage may run 12's if I can manage to hook, but its a solid low 13 performer all day. But I know my place when I roll past my two wheeled friends.

yeah, i've had lots of ricers try and race me and whatnot. first close call was when a ricer ran a light at a t intersection and almost side swiped me. Chased him down and he started yelling at me and whatnot. so i kicked his door and sped off. I have no patience for this younger generation (that im sadly part of).

Favorite one was this guy in a civic was in front of me on this road that has lights every 500 feet. for the first two, he punched it until the next light, staring at me in his mirror the whole time. Still was riding my GS500E then. Third light, he pulled it in reverse and started backing up at me, then braked and pulled back up. This pissed me off, a lot. Fourth light someone ended up in front of him, so at green with no traffic the other way, pull up next to him, flip him off and speed up to get ahead and back into lane. I'm sure the chick with him was impressed with his driving.

My cage may run 12's if I can manage to hook, but its a solid low 13 performer all day. But I know my place when I roll past my two wheeled friends

Fully agree. But i kind of want to race a bike off the line just to see how slow cars are against bikes. Just for the perspective.

I just re-read this thread.
Here we have the so-called "Boy Racer" laws. If I was in a similar situation to Nailer45, and did what he did, in all probability, the cop would stop both of us, and impound both our vehicles, as we would be deemed to be racing.

I'm being very mostly very well behaved lately, as I got a ticket about two blocks from home, for 72 km/h in a 50 zone: $170 and 35 points on my licence. Only 30 to go till I'm walking. I was SO tempted to do a runner.
The funny thing was, I did some late-night maths and worked out that I was doing the same speed when I got my first ticket in 1974 ($10). When I worked out the inflation based on the wages, the cost of bikes and gas (around 1550%), it turned out it's now cheaper for tickets, and bikes are cheaper too. Either that, or I got ripped off on my first bike ($600 CB175).

I don't bother with cages... they rev, I just ignore them. But, I love the V-Rod guys with an overdog complex... If a V-Rod pulls up, the boy racer in me can't help but come out... yes childish, but I can't help it. I can't tell you how many V-Rods I have blasted on the 79 in Temecula (V-Rod capitol of the world). Don't get me wrong, a good rider on a V-rod can get you on a VFR... but the majority of V-Rod riders I have encountered are very poor off the line. The best of which could only hang with me after a 4-5 bike length lead. That's one thing I love about the VFR... wind her up and let her rip, no muss, no fuss. She's no drag queen, but defends her honor well in the right hands (ask SGVRunner, who ran some trap times recently). I have a buddy with a DRZ-400 and he loves getting the jump on 1k sportbikes then jamming on the brakes... he tried that with me once, now he knows better. Pick and choose your battles, however, with the VFR be weary of a good rider on a strong power cruiser... m109, rocket III, or an S&S equipped chopper to name a few.

No they don't, I have a friend with a (stock) 86 5.0L and still to this day thinks it will take my VFR. He hasn't had it on the road in 2 years so there has never been a test, I keep telling him come for a ride on the bike I'll show you want it can do 2 up but he will not. rolleyes.gif

"What is it about driving cars that make you all such complete asshats?"

I'll tell you what it is, 99% of them have never ridden a motorcycle in their lives.
#30
I don't street race period. I am too poor to afford the tickets or medical bills. It only encourages the little hamsters in their cages to try again and in the end they convince themselves that some how I cheated or they won based on their coping skills learned in today's society. It really is a waste of time. I say take it to the track.

Now that I have my official disclaimer out of the way (and 95% of the time I do just that) I have been known to go from 0 - speed limit a time or two to show up a WRX STi, Ford Mustang GT, Mazda RX8, and a few other cars that I found myself curious about. There is no law saying how fast you can get to the speed limit as long as you are not being reckless about it. And I always like to let them pull ahead a bit to let them think they have a chance. rolleyes.gif

Still, I don't flaunt my power as it once again just makes us look bad in general to a public that all ready despises us simply because we ride something that resembles the typical squid set up. And if 75% of the LEO's out there all ready hate us on top of that I think I will keep to my mild mannered ways so that I can enjoy riding my "type" of motorcycle as long as I can before the good old government takes it away. There are plenty of mountain twisties one can enjoy away from the masses to keep me happy. Remember, there are a lot more cager voters than motorcycle ones. dry.gif

Ahh....Ferrari PWNIJ.... 491.gif

Was on I95 heading home in relatively busy Sunday traffic. I'm in the leftmost lane and as I pass a cloverleaf I see a brand-new Ferrari merging. He gets over to the left lane and in appreciation of a fine Italian machine I pull right to admire the ride and give him a fing02.gif .

The balding, middle-aged driver looks over at me with a smug "I'm a bad ass" look and all but rolls his eyes at my humble 2001 VFR (RIP). I look back and shrug, drop a gear and go BYE BYE. He desperately floors it, brakes due to traffic, swaps lanes...but by then I'm down the road laughing. As he became a red dot in my rearview I could still see him trying to keep up.

Hehehe.

I usually refuse to race but one night recently I was on a remote 4 lane highway (111 between Sparta and Cookeville, for those familiar with the road) It was just after dark and an older gentleman in a nice late 60's Camaro pulled up next to me and revved it. I was in 6th and and matched him to about 115 mph just rolling on the throttle then I walked away from him. We repeated this a few more times. When I got off at my exit he waved and smiled. I had alot of fun playing around with this guy. He was mature and realized I could burn him if I wanted but both of us had fast vehicles and were out just having a little fun while respecting each other. About a week later I was riding through town, yuck, on my way to work, yuck, and a juvenile delinquent in an old beater Buick pulled up next to me and revved the engine. I ignored him, he gave it everything he had off the line and I wasn't accelerating hard at all. He pulls up next to me and starts revving the engine, the shocks on the car are so bad that the car is bouncing up and down. I finally look over at him and shake my head in disgust. People like these are a disgrace to humanity.

I too am a Believer in natural selection and it sounds like there are a few folks that need weeding out. And since we can't shoot them they are going to have to go by their own hand. Here in good old Tennessee it seems as though we have more than our share of squids/cagers. I can only hope that when they go they don't take anyone with them.

I realize this is an old posting. But don't we all drive some sort of automoble as well as our bikes? I mean the stupid kid you duped into a speeding ticket may run the next guy who resembles you into the armco barrier. And to be honest with you I've gotten the same want to race challenge more often from fellow sportbike riders. No harm in revving your motor and mock race start. It's a good way to get rid of a goofy driver but I know personaly of a duo fatality at Long Beach City College that resulted from this exact senario. One sport bike rider dead on impact and one mother and wife dead a week later of extensive burns when her car caught on fire. Witnesses at the scene said two sport bikes at a red light with one rider trying to taunt the other into a race. Fake start and that's how this tragedy was said to be set into motion. I've driven my wifes minivan and know of the indignities you suffer just from driving such a vehicle. I guess since I'm a motorcycle commuter I care about the impressions I make on other drivers while I'm riding and think we all should. Aren't we all cagers too? And in calling others that doesn't that imply we have the poor attitude toward the majority of drivers we wish to share the roads with? We can't afford to be our own worst enemy. squid.gif wheel.gif
