Vin #s

Hey I just happend to notice that the last 6 digits on my VIN are 000311, now does this mean that it was the 311 bike made(90 VFR) and if so how many where actually made in 1990. My bike could be a collectors item some day. Does anyone know how I might find out.

AFAIK, the VIN numbers are indeed sequential.

Don't know how to find out total production numbers, I don't think that's something that Honda really publishes.

Thats cool, my 2004 is 000888. I work on honda cars and hace seen as low as car 22. All vfr's are made in the same factory so to the best of my understanding your bike is #311 of that year. I doubt it would make it worth more than a nickel in value though. Maybe if it was #1.

Interesting...Mine is a 2002 with VIN 00264.

If I remember correctly, there is a letter code after the RCXX part of the number that specifies a region of the world...most likely you've got #311 in North America. There's also a letter that specifies place of manufacture (Hammatsu for all of us, I think).

Well I guess my bike isnt that special after all but its still pretty interesting though.

I just purchased a CBR-1000RR Repsol Replica and the serial number is 000069....think it will be worth anything as a collector?

At ....0019, mine's not the lowest for 1995, but it's still cool mon (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif) !

95 VFR #19 out of Hamamatsu!

Not sure what my VIN number is on the 2006, but the first two letters are my initials. It was meant to be. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/wink.gif)

I know a local rider who has one of the first of the original VFR series. It's somewhat of a pre-production unit with several differences (most minor) compared to the later units. It was brought in early to homologate for Daytona. It's #12.

I don't think so. Now if it were an RC51 and a Hayden replica model, that would be very cool and probably worth some extra coin down the road. Even the 1000RR might fetch a higher figure with the right buyer and some good marketing! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/warranty.gif)

My 97's VIN # ends 1109 and with our way of writing dates (day/month), that makes it 11 September.
My bike was registered 11th September......

fwiw, my guess it is the 400995th produced vehicle, seriously doubt that 400,000 6th gens were produced....

If this is to be believed than you have the 302nd bike VIN'd for the US, non-California. I have no idea if the VIN's are sequential, but it seems like they would be, and this would indicate 779 US non-cali bikes were produced in '90. Add the 216 Cali bikes and we get a grand total of 995 US bikes for '90. That seems just about right based on the 1K per year average sales numbers I've heard for the US VFR.

If you look too closely at those VIN sequences, you'll notice that some countries used the same ranges, and are listed at random. I kinda doubt the accuracy of the VIN info, but the tech specs seem to be right on, from what I know about the 3rd gen bikes.

Oddly, based on these numbers I have the first VFR produced for the US in 1992 (last 6 digits are 200008 on my bike).
