Pictures Needed: F4i Front End On Vfr

at one time there was a thread with a link to someone who had installed F4i front end onto his 3rd gen. can anyone track that down for me please? i didnt bookmark the link like a dummy and now i believe the post is gone.

help?

Should be a fairly straight forward mod, what do you need pics of?

i would like to see how he dealt with the ram air tubes and how it lined up in reference to the frame. yes, it does look fairly straight forward.

Sorry, when you say front end do you mean bodywork or forks?

Wow that looks nothing like a VFR. Looks great though. Is that an aftermarket tail peice or just highly mod'ed?

It looks to me, like the person grafted on a full set of F4i race 'glass with solo tail, then extended the forward portion of it up to the edge of the vfr tank, and grafted in a pair of headlights. The lights should actually be down farther in the nose, but maybe it didn't work out that way with clearances between the triples and the light?

edit: now that I think about it, those look like old R6 lights...

yea it does look like r6 headlights. i was thinking kawasaki for a little bit but now that u mention it they do look like R6.

I've been lusting after that myself for sometime. I talked to a guy who grafted 4i stuff into his 600 F2, and the way he got the upper fairing and bracket to fit was to fab a plate or 2 plates that bolted to the headstock and then bolted the fairing bracket to the plates. That allowed him to space the fairing out properly for clearance and appearance. I don't know what he did about the gauges though, but I have read on another forum about getting the 4i gauges to work on f2s/f3s. Not sure how it would apply to the viffer. Since my bodywork is all smashed I've been trying to work up the nerve/time/money to either street fighter mine or graft 4i or maybe rc stuff on.

i found several clusters that have the right redline for the VFR.

if you went with just the F4 stuff, and not the F4i you could use the factory cluster for the VFR or i would personally use a 94+ on mine and get rid of that god forsaken cable speedo.

but anyway

im sure there are more. i dont think the clusters would be tough to use, they all most likely work off of triggering from a coil. i highly doubt that they use a serial connection like cars do.

coincidentally the f4 mounts just like the VFR does. so it might not be too hard to do.

The fairing in the picture above is not an F4i. It looks like a late 90's or early 2000's Kaw ZX? fairing, maybe a ZX12. I think an F4i fairing would have looked a lot better, but I'm not sure it would have been big enough to fit.

You mean the rear, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/unsure.gif)

I don't think it's a ZX, but I can see how you would think that. I compared it visually and it's not exactly factory F4 or 4i, but that's the closest I can see it to be. Either way I think it's aftermarket. Lights might be r6, can't say exactly.
I didn't realize until now that it's a 3rd gen, too.
