I just purchaced a 93 VFR 750 from a friend that was completly taken apart 8 years ago but all parts in perfect condition. My question is, can I eliminate the air injection pipes/vacuum valves/evap. canister, aka Emission Crap????? If so what is the best approach??? Thanks for any help !! Scott M.
Yes, but you will need to bolt on blocking plates to seal off the ports near the exhaust manifold outlets on the cylinders. Most Vfr owners just leave the air injection pipes in place and just plug off/disconnect the sytem upstream. because the the blocking plates sold years ago in the aftermarket are long gone.
I cut the stock lines with a pipe cutter and capped them with brass plumbing caps and JB Weld.

You can still get the block off plates for XR650L's which I believe are the same thing, at least they look the same on my bikes. But that would be about $50. The plumbing caps only cost me a couple bucks. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/beer.gif)
You'll also need to plug the holes in the airbox, I did that with some wire nuts and epoxy.

all the blockoff platews really have to be is a rectangle of about 1/8" steel with the bolt holes drilled in them. im going to make myself some as soon as i can find the gaskets off of them. i may whip up an extra few sets for others while im at it, being as its just as easy to bore through 8 pieces on a mill as it is 4.
