I wanted a different look, and i didn't like how quiet my Yoshi pipe was so i went with a Moto GP style shortie pipe. I opened the pipe up by removing the tip, Yoshi pipes are easy to break down because they're only bolted together, unlike most that are welded. I then removed all the fiberglass and cut it down to about 11 inches removing almost 14 inches of pipe. It now has that mean growl i was looking for and unique look that has really grown on me. And none of it cost me a dime (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)
I was actually surprised that the fumes aren't a bother, the bike engine shoots the fumes far enough from the bike they don't loom around. I guess it sort of similar to an under tail exhaust. And when you're riding the fumes are obviously not an issue. But it sounds mean, almost like straight (open) pipes. Now i just need to jet it up to match the pipe. Thats my next modification.

Well I believe from what the owner previous to me explained, my bike is currently under-jetted. He lived in Colorado a couple miles north of Denver so his altitude is more than 5000 feet, while my altitude in Texas in more along the lines a few hundred above sea level, so that altitude difference means i am actually under-jetted. He required less fuel and air while I require more because of the change. So right now its actually probably hurting my performance, especially with the exhaust change. So if I understand what he said my bike in under-powered right now. So it needs to be done soon so i don't hurt any internals running too lean.

With standard jetting the VFR runs #125 main jets which are on the large side for the carb/engine size. So most slip-ons work well as they lean the mixture out a little but because it's already fairly rich it naturally falls to a fairly good state of tune.
The PO may have gone to smaller mains? You will definitely need to go back to stock if this is the case.
Then try adding some shims under the carb needles (if there are not some there already) - I fitted 0.765mm shims under mine with good results. Turn the mixture screws right in, then turn them out 2.25 turns.

Thanks Phantom thatll come in use when i do jet. And thats about how it sounds, I definatly hear my bike over all my friends who ride the I-4s and they hear mine over theirs, but i wish there was a way to combine the 2 sounds because when you hit a certain RPM on each they becomes harmonious and it tingles your butt and sends the hairs on your neck standing straight up.

Thanks man, thats was teh very first thing i did. I got rid of that Sail on the back of the bike, just dremeled it off and attached the liscence plate directly to the the 2 holes i drilled int he left over section i didnt cut off. Then i started hacking the exhaust. I really cant get enough of that sound it produces, it almost makes me want to take the engine out of the 5th gens and put it in the 4th gen. Its basically the same engine but FI. And 50 cc larger (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/rolleyes.gif)
A very good looking bike....but IMHO that exhaust is got to go! I have never liked the GP look that the newer bikes are going to....I prefer the old school fat pipe! But to each his own.......still a good looking beast.
