I just picked up a 99 vfr800 with just over 12k miles on it.
it has a two brothers carbon slip on. a pcIII with downloaded map. k & n air filter. custom paint. polished wheels.
what it really needs is a REAL SUSPENSION.!
questions I have are;
1. what weight fork oil comes stock?
2. for those who have done the 929 shock swap, how did it effect the handling? dramatic? marginally better? what type of riding are you doing, aggressive canyons or just mostly tarmac?
thank you so much, and if anyone in the so cal area wants to go for a ride, look me up.

lots of posts on shock; search on '929 shock'
i haven't done it, but seems to be worth every penny from reading the posts
Yes, I did a search, but most of the shock subjects are not about the 929 shock, and if they are, rarely does anyone describe in detail about the way the shock works compared to stock. Most people just describe the install (spacer fabrication) or how excited they were to get it for so cheap on ebay.
I asking for real world descriptions of the riding experience after the install was done.

It's no Ohlins, but the stock 929 shock is far superior to the stock VFR shock, let alone being fully adjustable. The extra oil/gas capacity alone allows the shock to be worked harder and longer before fading unlike the stocker. It's a cheap/easy mod that can only improve every aspect of the VFR rear suspension and all reports are an instant improvement in feel. Most likely not a night and day change, but an improvement no doubt. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)
Installing the correct springs front and rear for your weight will show the biggest improvement IMO.
