Hey Seb, do you know if that fibergass bolts right up or whether theres some serious modding?. Thinking that might be a project my 4th Gen could handle but would depend on how difficult the switch would be. Must say that bike looks tits fing02.gif

I sincerely doubt that it bolts right on. You'll probably be making quite a few brackets by hand to fit it where you want it, especially in the front to line up the headlights.
To me that is a good 5' bike. Missed alot of details. That bike could be absolutely amazing, but the two big things that stick out are:
1. The zip tied on chain guard and not machining off the stock chain guard bracket.
2. The exhaust plumbing looks bad sticking out the side to make the turn up.
If you go to the lengths to make a project finish up like this, seems that the additional time would be well worth it. Concept, A++++, final result B----.
That's definitely original. I love my 3rd gen. and I'd love to do that to it. Maybe if I didn't have kids, and bottomless pockets, I could look brilliant as well. I do have to give the guy a thumbs up on styling though, and I'm not easily impressed.
Looks fantastic to me. The gold wheels w/ the red paint is an awesome look.
Almost looks like the new ducati 1098.

I really love the wheels too. It looks to me like they are anodized. Hard to tell for sure, but that's what it looks like to me.

and the guages are 98-99 CBR 900RR unit. but for us 3rd genners, the 92-95 cluster would work with our cable drive without conversion.
but im converting to electric cause im gearing up and want a speedohealer to make my speedo accurate.

I think the link posted above takes you to the correct Hotbodies site link for that bike. It sells for 649.00 for the complete front and back setup. Pretty cheap for all new bodywork. I did call Hotbodies and found out that on the LH side of the bike it does have the pancake sized hole cut out for the crankcase cover, so you would have to fill that in yourself.
Those small AIM electronic modules tell you speed, tach, lap times, and would be really lightweight too compared to the stock gauge cluster.

Haven't figured out the title situation yet. I sent an email to the Ohio titles dept to find out. I know for sure that the insurance didn't salvage the bike because I didn't have comprehensive insurance.
My next door neighbor is Portugese; maybe I can talk him into translating for me. I doubt he knows a thing about bikes if that matters.
I think that is an F4i tail molded to some pieces. I don't think a 929 tail has that curve that exposes the subframe. I believe the 929 is just like the 954 tail, and I happen to have one still lying around from my old 954. It is very much point-like on the sides where it bolts on up by the seat/tank joint.
That thing is sweet; even nicer than that other one from a couple of previous threads that looks very much like it. Actually, the tail from the other one is almost exactly the same as this one. Need to go find that one and have a look.

It looks to me like the newer F4i tail(which is the same as the 99-00 F4 tail; banana seat), with extensions to mate to the tank. The 2001-2003 F4i split seat tail is different, not so 'scalloped' on the leading edge. Could be a race tail, meant for the F4, or late model F4i.

No, because the bike is custom, it could be anything molded in... I've seen an aftermarket Hayabusa tail that looked like that. Could be some streetfighter part too...

I'm going to look at an F4i model that is close by so that I can measure the backside of the front cowl area to see how much room there actually is up there
Guy came over last night and brought his F4i model bike so that I could take dimensions off of the bodywork. Amazing how close all the mounting points are on the two bikes,....looks like it won't be very difficult to adapt the F4i bodywork onto my 97 when the time comes. If I use the Veypor all-in-one instrument, I can get rid of all the factory gauge cluster and have tons of room in the front of the cowl area.

Interestingly, I found a similar thing when fiddling with a CBR1100XX panel I had lying around... look how it lines up to the mounting point at the bottom of the VFR frame (it is bolted on there). It's a bit long, as in goes too far forward to probably hit the wheel (it's not folded in to behind the wheel because there's a jack there):

Since I know both of us are looking for gauge options, did you notice the one in that link was model specific? It all seemed to be for trail/dirt bikes, I couldn't find anything for any street bike, much less a 4th gen VFR.

I'll probably be going with this one for my old Honda. There are some pics here on a universal installation, you need to cut/splice a few wires but it doesn't sound too bad.

OK................why do you say that? What do you know that we don't? I've read on the other forums where most of the fiberglas companies
who make kits for bikes have the usual pits or extra sanding prep that is normal for that price range. For 300.00 more than Hotbodiesracing you can buy Sharkskinz bodywork. You ususally get what you pay for. It hasn't taken me 300.00 worth of sanding and filling on other body parts I've bought like that in the past.

The measurements I took indicated that you could use the 4th Gen instrument cluster behind the F4i cowl.
