As I was riding home from my college class. I was following some q-tip in front of me who must have thought we were in Sarasota or something pissed.gif and was driving a good 10mph below the limit. She finally makes a turn which seemed like slow motion, I was probably going about 10mph or so in first gear. I romped on the throttle and then saw my field of vision was rapidly moving towards the sky........so I eased off the throttle and shifted into second. Just prior to my shift I felt the front of the bike slam down and my "groin" area slam into the tank.
goofy.gif I seemed dazed and thought holy crap I just did a wheelie! Then I started thinking about it and I never really pulled the front wheel off the ground that far......just little power wheelies' and such. That was good stuff! wheel.gif
You can do a wheelie on a VFR? goofy.gif
Only let off the gas a little bit, otherwise the engine braking will introduce your balls to the tank. Better to use 2nd gear and clutch; less engine braking to slam you down, less twitchy throttle, and less power to send you over backwards.

I don't understand why people are so surprised that the VFR will wheelie. I learned how to wheelie on a TL1000R (Huge Torque, so wheelies were super easy), but once I got my 6th gen, I had no problem getting it to wheelie. Granted, it doesn't come up as easy as a TLR, GSXR, Ninja, etc, but the bike definately wheelies just fine, and why shouldn't it? When I was a Sales Manager at a Suzuki dealership a couple years ago, I put a bunch of miles on a fifth gen, and it also wheelied without trouble.
First gear - scoot back a little in the seat and WHACK IT! Instant wheelie.
Second gear - same techique as in first gear, but you have to give it a little whack, let the front suspension compress, then WHACK IT again as the suspension rebounds. Again, instant wheelie.
When you feel the nose heading toward the ground, give it a healthy dose of throttle and the front wheel will come down with less force.
It's all about timing.
I've never clutched up a wheelie. I don't see a need. Besides, why put extra strain on the clutch if you can just WHACK IT!
I don't condone beating the hell out of your VFR; Lord knows I treat mine with great respect, but a properly executed wheelie will not damage the bike, and they are so much fun!
Be careful out there...
[image: 122_0205_2002interceptor_Wheelie+2002_Honda_Interceptor+Fron] i did that myself about 3 years or so ago...
