954 Or 929 Shock

I couldn't find conclusive ansers searching, so if its a heavily covered topic I appologise. My question is this, is there a difference between the 929 shock and the 954? What is it? Thanks,

The 954 shock clearance problems when fitted to a 5th gen and has a softer spring rate, The 929 fits just right and is sprung the same as the VFR! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)

Muchas gracias. Is there a way to tell them apart. Most ebay listings show them as interchangeable.

On the 929 the reservoir 'projects' to the right, on the 954 to the left. The 929 is a better fit than the 954. Look for a white spring 929, they are from the Erion edition.

Are you sure that the white springs are only from the Erion edition? I've seen a lot more of those than the yellow springs and I doubt that it would be the case if they only came on such a limited model. Even so, why would it make a difference? My understanding is that the shocks are the same, even the spring rates are the same. Just wondering.

The way I identify 929 and 954 shocks is by the reservoir also, but not the direction it points. The 929 has a black reservoir that is part of the body casting. The 954 has a gold reservoir that is a machined part which is separate from the body casting. Color is easier for me because most days I'm likely to forget my left and right :)
