I had the 1987 1000cc version..

Dare I say... If I let the rear tire down to 15psi there was not a vehicle in town that could beat me off the line to 100 mph. Of course I weighed a hell of a lot less 20 years ago.

I also used to be able to wind the frame up like a watch spring. I would have loved to had a video to see how much the forks deflected. That thing would wiggle for 2-3 seconds trying to find center after a hard toss to one side.

But man, when everything was right there was nothing that could beat her.... in her day.

The VFR is a MUCH better bike though. I guess 20 more years down the technology trail will do that. I can't wait to see what I'm riding in 2027.

One of my best friends and riding buddy had his mother to buy him one brand new the week they hit the dealer floors. Unfortuanatley, two weeks after the purchase, my friend was playing around down a curvey road with another friend and myself in a Mustang GT when he hit a curve way too hard, panicked and locked up his rear brake. the bike went end over end and either broke or bent everything on the whole thing and left my friend with no bike and 4 pins in his foot! mad.gif

Motorcyclist magazine did a cover story in their March issue just out in the newsstands. They REALLY like the new 600RR and I am aware that a bunch of our VFRDers own one. Worthwhile reading, if you're interested.

They did a brief update on their long-term VFR, but spent most of the article discussing luggage. schla15.gif

They did hint, however, about fooling with the EFI maps as a topic in a future issue. (See thread on the Powercommander group buy.) Hope to see their results sooner than later.
