Should I Paint It?

Should I paint it white or keep all the airbrush work i paid all that money for?

Paint it white. I've only ever seen one other fifth gen in white and it really looked fantastic.

I can't say I am a big fan of all the airbrush work, but I will tell you that blue is awesome, white would be a step backwards

Here is the funny thing. I took it to the painter and told him to paint it white. He calls me a week later and says he wants to do something else and am i ok with saphire blue with purlpe hi-lite and I said ok. All the airbrushing took him close to 80 hours for all of it and I only paid around $2500 half in trade for computer parts and service. I just seem to like to change things alot. I offered up my plastics for trade so someone might get to keep it but no one replyed so now I am just waiting trying to deside what to do.

I'd say go white, I'm not really a fan of the air-brushed stuff either.

White would be totally bitchin'. I've considered it for a "second set of skins" for myself.

As on American Idol, sorry Dog, the airbrush goes home, man.....go with the classic white paint job.

I vote white too! With pearl. White base. clear with a blue fleck, more white, then silver in the final clear. Then THIN silver pin stripe to accentuate the horizontal lines, of the bike.

White. I like the bluish but not a fan of the airbrushing.

White... though I do like the airbrush work, it's not for that bike.

edit: If you are open to other suggestions, I thing hugger orange w/ white racing stripe would be hot. ph34r.gif

Paint it white. Absolutely. With a very subtle pearl to it. No pinstripe or airbrush - keep it a super clean look.

Ya everyone seems to be on the same page. It has been fun but it is a little bit overboard even for me. White it shall be. I bought an 8 spoke wheel also.
should I paint the wheels to match? Or should I chrome them??

no offense, but if some painter asked me if I liked a couple of colors, and then did that to my bike without me knowing what it was going to look like I would beat his a$$ and then make him repaint it. Personally I do like the blue, I'm not much on white bikes.

Your current paint scheme is a little too busy, let the lines and curves of the bike do the talking.

I;ve seen Silvers bike, it looks prety cool in person. Maybe a bit bold for me, but it is very artistic when seen in person.

I think you should go to a Silver, with a stylized Tatoo aribrush in black. Something that better fits the lines of the bike, and fits your own personal style.

MAtbe they guy can Morphe the Honda wing into a native american style.

i like the blue....but the graphics have to go. but since its a choice, and i still think the early pearl white vfr was the best lookin vfr ever made. so i vote pearl white.

To make a long story very short NO he didnt ask me about the airbrushing. I had gotten screwed around by a dif. guy on work that was going to be done to the bike and never got done. I told the story to the painter and he said he wanted to do something nice for me [a custom paint job for cheap] I said cool i like pearl white and maybe some light blue ghost flames. nothing dramatic. I got my lovely skull plastic 4 months later then promissed and only after threatening to do bodly harm to him if i couldnt go riding that very weekend. through out the prosses he would call me and tell me he needed more things. I bought this man 5 needle kits for his airbrush online and had them shipped to his home over that 4 months. He claimed to be dropping the gun and bending the needles. Plus a ton of other stuff. arggg thats not short sry to rant. I just really what pearl white like i asked.

I agree too busy with the artwork. I would go solid white, silver ro blue. Whie rims to go with the white. Chrome for silver or blue.

If you do go white (chick's bike), I'd say silver wheels. I like the chrome smoke pc that someone (teleskier?) has posted.

I've been scrubbing in my new Diablos on Canyon Rd. between Lyle and Appleton, WA, after work the last couple of days. Damp, and some cinders, but Oh what fun it is! I'm tempted to try a Fossil/Antelope ride this weekend, but I don't know if they've put anything on the roads down there.

I LOVE the blue, but think the airbrush is a bit busy. If a large graphic (like a Honda wing) was airbrushed to match the lines, then I might think about it a bit differently.

I'd be interested in seeing all the airbrush detail close up... kinda sparked my curiosity on what's on there... hmmmm might have to check out and see if you have a gallery. fing02.gif

That's kind of a, "check swatch, use your imagination", kind of thing. Folks may make suggestions, but the final is up to you. OMHO, go with the finest fleck you can. (Unless you like, "bass boat").

Matbee even a ghoasted silver wing, slightly longer than what you can get at tapeworks. (Making the bike look longer, sleeker).

Pearl white with gold wheels!

My pearl white is the '93 color... and I like it. It's got a little of the green hue to it under certain light... when it's clean... which isn't very often.

If I were to do white again, I'd do the pearl from the Cadillac STS that has a gold hue to it!

GEORGE. GEORGE. GEORGE. This is all because I haven't made it down to ride with you, huh. If you're gonna wuss out and cover that very distinctive scooter of yours with a Rabbit convertible color, then buy other body work and paint that..therefore you'll have your existing paint scheme when you come back to your manly senses!


You do know that white VFR's are the slowest (hey-this is between George and me). What will the rest of us do when we have to wait for you at every crossroad. Next thing, nevermind. I'll save the coup de grace for a last attempt, below the knees strike.

For it to work correctly, you must get all three - base coat, color, and clear coat.

Much cheaper to use automotive colors. I've used Ford Performance White in the past on a few projects, it's PPG and it's a stock '90s Mustang color, nice bright "clean" white, it would make a great base for a white pearl, which actually has a "mother-of-pearl" look to it, because it actually contains many fine colors. I really like to use PPG's Frost Blue and Violet(purple) fine dry pearls, I'll get you the #'s a little later. The Frost Blue would look real nice over white, if you keep it to a couple light coats. Toss a bit of silver flake in with the pearl for some bling if you go with the chrome wheels.

If you do it white which is a good choice.....I think the wheels should be Orange....now thats a yummy color scheme

The designs on your bike is truly a wonderful work of art. It's also unique as I just love the colours. H/ever IMHO, it's a case of one design too many. What I would do (instead of getting it in Pearl White etc), is to re-spray the side fairings, side of the tank, the front (above the headlights) and the sides of the seat cover back to the blue as the rest of the bike. Leave the designs centralised (along the centre lines of the bike), that means just the front mudguard, the top of the tank & behind the pillion's bums. Lastly, powder coat the wheels in silver/grey.

Think about it, if u still don't like it, u still have the chance to spray it in Pearl White. If u do it now...

I don't like the way your bike looks with all the airbrushing on it at all, but I would get a second set of used plastics to paint before I covered it up.

Just in case you change your mind later.

Tapeworks carries replica Honda logos. I have never been a fan of painted-on logos.

Check out teleskier's gallery for pics of the third gen wheel stripped. You might also want to consider stripping your wheels, then repainting the centres white.

Here's MHO. Nix the white and try something totally different like a Black Cherry Pearl. It would be
unique, so reflective in the sun and pretty much black at night.
