it's happened twice now! a good girl friend of mine likes to go riding with me, and she takes to it like a fish to water. when i'm by myself (not on the track), i never drag anything on the ground (especially now that i've taken those supid peg-feelers off).
with her on the back, i certainly don't lean any further than i do when i'm by myself - probably not even close. yet twice now, in right hand turns, i've heard and felt something scraping. it scares me - i'm super careful when i'm responsible for someone else's safety, and scraping hard parts isn't exactly my idea of 'safety first.'
upon examination, the right passenger peg is a little scuffed, but it's been that way for awhile - i can't tell if it's new.
anyone else experience this? what's easier to drag when you have a passenger?
You need to increase your spring preload. You have less ground clearance with more weight on the bike. Scraping the pegs isn�t too bad, check your header for scrapes, when that starts scraping you are getting close to a crash.

No, like jeremy said you need to add spring preload. Stiffening the shock won't help much.
On a Penske, use a 1/4" rod and rotate the collar to tighten the spring. Check rider sag with both of you on bike and marke down how many turns from one up. Now you can go back and forth.

if you drug a passenger peg WITH a passenger on board i bet you would know about it post haste!
if your bike is stock, the front fork spring preload should probably be turned all the way in for two up. sag is adjusted front an back!

BTW, your peg should drag before the header, passenger or not. About the only way I can see it happening the other way around is if you hit a pretty big dip in the middle of the curve and compress the heck out of your suspension...it might let the header touch first since you've taken your feelers off, but I'm not sure because every time I've scraped the header, I scraped the pegs about the same time.

Peg without feeler still hits before the header, but not by a whole lot.
