So I saw rivcyko on previous post mentioned a catless header and I saw a beautiful left side exit header that was offered to me for a couple of hundred bucks today. What is the advantage of a left side exit? and what happens to your jetting when you switch to a catless header? If this is a common thing with links in the archives just point the way and I am happy to read up on it

From your "garage", you have a 1990, so you have a catless header (no catalytic converter). You do have a big, heavy collector box down there, though. Many 3rd gen owners replace their exhaust headers with a set from a 4th gen to get rid of it. The weight loss is the only performance gain.
The pro of the left exit is to expose the right side of the rear wheel. That part is just for looks. The con is loss of the centerstand (if you had one to begin with) and less ground clearance.
Were you offered the set that's on eBay? TBR was the only one that used to make a left exit full system for the VFR, but they stopped a while ago. That's why the set there is up to $250 with 4 days to spare. They typically go for a few hundred, so expect the bidding to get insane.
If you are being offered a true TBR set, the pipes are larger diameter, which will change the power curve (focused on top end power with loss of midrange), and you will likely need to rejet. It's also louder.
On a 6th gen., a catless 5th gen is a dream. Larger pipes, and no cat. Would take some P.C. Maps headaches, but It's prolly gonna be the largest HP gain, without totally re-engineering the motor. ( And when I say largest, we're only talking MAYBE, max 8 ponies, tops).
