I have a damaged (melted ) connector to the battery relay on my 91 VFR. Since the harness is $270 I'm trying to find a used connector or salvaged harness. I've looked on Ebay, Google etc and cannot find anything. Can anyone help??????
You might try calling the local Honda dealer, or your insurance company, and ask them where do they send wrecked bikes. You might find a 91 model in the junkyard and be able to salvage a harness, or at least maybe find the same connector that you could graft into your existing harness. Wait...how many pins are in this connector?
Ohh,,; you want the relay connector. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/dry.gif)
I found gen6 style plugs for my RC51 R/R transplant in the salvage yard import car section. Honda and I think Toyota source their automotive electrical connectors from the same vendor. I found an exact match for the 3-contact stator plug in a Toyota fusebox, of all places. Scrounge long enough and you're bound to stumble upon something...

thanks. I'm going to call some salvage yards and see what I can find tomorrow.
gll429, Mar 2 2007, 10:52 PMsend me a pic of what you need.. i may have one 5 feet from me...
Hi-
I posted a drawing from the service manual. Not sure how to send in the post so it's in my albums. I think you can just go look at it. I will be going to the dealer today to take a picture if the connector but being that it is partially melted the drawing may be better. Please let me know if getting to the drawing in my album is an issue or even how I can put it in the post.
thx1139, Mar 3 2007, 10:52 AMThe plug covers the fuse too? hmm, might be a tough one...
Yeah it covers the fuse. I did take pics in addition to the scan of the service manual drawing. I am told that this connector can be found on many Hondas from the 90's so a connector from any VFR or CBR may be the same. I saw one from a CBR 1000 today that would work but I have to see if the bike gets totaled before I could get the connector...Could be a while before that happens so I'm hoping to find one elsewhere...
cstmvfr3, Mar 22 2007, 09:52 AMDid u ever find a new connector? I've been looking for the same thing! Thanks
Yeah actually I did by way of buying an entire wire harness that I found on Ebay. Worked out well as the cost delivered was $60 and a new harness was $220. U may be able to find one as well. I found 2 when I looked.
That looks like the same connector that my 88/87 hurricane has. By the way if you hoook up a temporary battery backwards it blows the mainfuse and the CDI so be careful
