Sunday , me and 2 nephews and brothernlaw went riding the back roads starting in Marion,Illinois and we somehow ended up in Marion,Kentucky... 2 kawis, 1- ZX14 ninja/ 1-ZX10 / 2 Hondas 1 -VFR and 1 - superhawk 996...
I had ridden both the ZX10 and the Hawk but now it was time to return the favor by letting the 2 nephews take my VFR for a pleasure ride... In short the ZX rider said he loved how smooth the viffer was and that it had plenty of power to pull the front end up in 2nd gear and he was surprised at how well it handled the twisties...He asked what they sell for..Hmmm , maybe i have turned a ZX riders view towards the VFR...
Kevin the 22yr old hawk owner thought the VFR was a blast and needed a louder exhaust, LOL , since his Hawk 996, has a full D&D system...He said the VFR had the hawk beat on comfort and gas mileage / wind protection easy...
The VFR was the mileage King as 1 fill up and after 205 miles still had 2 bars left on the gauge.. My god the ZX10 is a gas hog as we had to stop for gas 3 times for the ZX...The ZX14 and the Hawk996 both stopped twice for gas... The ZX14 ninja shows you are getting 2.7mpg at 143mph on the instrument panel....
We got lucky twice in Kentucky as the troopers has us speeding at least 25mph over the limit and just waved a finger at us...whew luckyyy...
We saw 3 different Busas, many 600s , but unfortunately no other VFRs, maybe next time...
Well I am glad to own a VFR and will try to get others to buy... The ZX10 rider thought he could just flat out run away from the VFR but he didnt until the 145 mark..LOL.
The ZX14 only turns 2,600 rpm at 65mph as my VFR is turning 4,500 at 65mph... The ZX14 is pure power and handles corners well...

(IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/blink.gif) Damn, that bad boy is suckin some gas, and thats not even top speed. BTW, how would you know that, YOU WERENT SPEEDING WERE YOU? (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/goofy.gif)
BTW, that equates to about a gallon per minute!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/blink.gif)
edit:
fwiw, the Lambo Mercialago, only gets 9 and 14 at AVERAGE speeds, Id like to see its MPG at 143 and up!
I'm glad I don't see a VFR around every bend....some of my "more common" bikes always got lost in the crowd. In fact I get a lot more questions when I ride my 50cc Ruckus scooter. Rode it up to Bike Night at Sonic last week and it stole the show.................................. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/tongue.gif) .....Oh yeah, 105 - 125 MPG........ Rivcyko, Mar 12 2007, 08:43 PMYah, but if everyone had a VFR, you wouldn't be as individual, as you are. LEMMINGS! LOL.
im doing my part to help his individuality (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/491.gif)
(IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/offtopic.gif) I may be joining you....I am going to look at an 06 cbr1000rr (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/unsure.gif)

Great bikes.....had a 05 Repsol Edition CBR1000RR....also (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/offtopic.gif) .....more consistant, better gas mileage than the VFR if you rode it "sparingly"........... (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)

ive noticed that too...i never got better than 36 mpg on the highway with the VFR. Coming back from daytona (approx 155 miles) i got 43 mpg with the GSXR 1000. i couldnt believe it.

In one of the Top Gear episodes, they describe how the 1000 Hp Veyron would go through a tank of fuel in some stupidly short amount of time at top speed (it might have been as little as 10 minutes). Once you run out at 240 mph, you could probably coast several more miles to the nearest station, though.

I suspect that these ZXCBRR1GSXR riders always think as they are going to bed that night...........ehnnn, I'm sure could have really blown away that Viffer guy if I really twist on the gassssszzz, I bet he had his throttle pinned all dayyyyyyy.....zzzzZZZZZRRRR.......blubberrwannnhundrrrriddfooortyfavehoooossspwerrrrrzzzzzzz........bbblowimawayyyzzzzzz.........poit!....snorrrre

I know some people here hate I-4s in any form, but the ones I've owned were fast, efficient, light weight. Have two guys here with Triumph Speed Triples(about 1050 cc)....they can eat my VFR for lunch on acceleration, and if we ride together, they always get much better gas mileage. I love the comfort of the VFR and don't want to give it up, but, if I ever get it a stable-mate, it will probably be a Speed Triple............3 cylinders ain't bad either........ Beck 95 VFR
interesting analogy...but not quite the truth. personally i dont care how the vfr rider rides or thinks. i had one and know what they can do. a great bike . just a bit underperforming power wise to do what i want currently. i know that most VFRD members i ride with could easily out ride me any day. what i go to bed thinking is why did i wait till 41 years old to get a ZXCBRR1GSXR . because until you have ridden one you dont know what its like, and i have never ridden one. i find thrill currently on what that throttle can do. its a one last thrill ride that i know in 3 years ill never be able to enjoy again. i have had 15 orthopeadic surgeries, back is gone, neck and lower back fused, wrists are fused and starting to arthritis. if im going to enjoy life and experience things, now has got to be the time. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/comp13.gif)
Edit... I had to edit due to my current honesty. i do care that certain VFR's have Naca ducts and i wish it to stop...if they all looked like this no one would ride them anymore.... (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/smile.gif) [image: daytona07031.jpg]
