So I went to start my bike for the first time this spring. After a bit of cranking, the bike quickly became flooded and dumped gas all over the floor (gas came out of the overflow tubes by the carbs). I took the Tank and air box off to have a look at the carbs and the front 2 were severely flooded. I sucked the excess gas out of them with a turkey baster and then I was able to get it started briefly. Now every time I try to start the bike it either floods within a few seconds of cranking or starts for a few seconds and stops. It seems like the front 2 carbs are getting way too much gas. Does anyone have any ideas?

needle valves. Try cleaning them, but you might have to replace them. It could also be one of the float is sticky. Clean everything with Gunk, reassemble and try again.
You might want to begin by tapping the the carb bowl with a small hammer or the back of a screw driver.
sounds like stuck floats to me... try running some yamaha carb cleaner in there first, before you go the route of plugginf those carbs.. that stuff has got to be the best cleaner ever.

are you kidding me??? that crap comes in a plastic bottle! any carb or brake cleaner plastic bottle is crap! use GUNK!! that stuff will disolve all dirt and any rubber, and soften plastic! so take off the rubber and plastic first!
you dont beleive me about the yamahahahahaahahaha crap? ask pdesjardins , he used it to clean ..or i should say, tried to clean the jets on his bike... fat chance.
take you float needles and toss them in a cup of very hot water... this will heat the rubber tips and make them go back to the "as new shape"
Yup. You were gummed up because you didn't drain your float bowls when you put it away for the winter. Simple to rectify for next time around (provided you remember to do it).

you're joking right? Obviously nothing will be as good a a full carb teardown, but for a off-the-shelf, carbs-still-on-the-bike cleaner, that stuff is great. Have ya used it? Seriously doubt you'd want to pour gunk down a carb while it was still on the bike and let it sit in there, and expect it not to eat away more than just winter varnish.
I am having the same problem right now; I think... When I start it, fuel leaks from the left, rear carb, but it looks like it's coming out of the bowl gasket. So there's an overflow tube; is that right? My local indy shop guy also said probably a stuck float, so tomorrow I'm gonna' give it a tap with a hammer. I do not wanna' pull those carbs again.

did you READ what i wrote??? "take off rubber and plastic" that means take off the carbs!!!!
i have used it..my shop sold it... i took some clogged jets and put them in a glass jar.. filled with yamahhhahaha crap..another jar with berryman crap...another jar with honda crap...and more jars with more crap...
i put them on the shelf for all the techs to look at and use their brains.. if a jet will not get clean it the jar.. it will not get clean in the carb by filling it with crap.
i did this to stop the boss from buying crap,making my techs waste time . he no longer uses anything but Gunk in the shop...sells lots of crap though!
