hi guys. would appreciate any advice on the following.
i have just picked up a used pc2 on ebay, [my budget would not run to a new pc3] for my 1999 vfr, it is a stock bike with a two brothers exhaust, and honda air filter.
there is no cable, and i have no map, i purchased the pc2 only, no extras.
as i am unfamiliar with power commander, i am assuming i neen these other items to set this up.
can i download a map? and where can i get a cable to link to my computer?
this gear is not readily available down here in new zealand so i will have to find it in usa.

To power the PC when it is not installed on the bike, you also need the 9-volt power adapter (which I expected to find on the Spare Parts page also, but it isn't there - recommend you call Dynojet or your NZ distributor).

also they did not list my bike with two brothers pipe, only california model, is there any other place i can download the map i am looking for?

You have to make sure you use the PC2 maps for serial cable unit, not usb because there different & the usb PC3 maps will not load onto a serial PC2.
Maps you really just have to look around because the real reason to buy a PC is to have a dyno map done for your bike, because no 2 bikes are really the same. Most of the maps around the net are peoples maps who have paid for dyno run mapping so if you find one that seems to work on your bike your lucky.
I'll give you an example, my VTEC has had 2 dyno maps done first cost $500AU & the second cost more so as you can see the tune cost more than the bloody PC. No map I downloaded makes my bike work like my custom map.

FYI, I had a PC2 and now a 3... I don't remember the 2 having the 9v battery hookup to power it outside the bike.. I think you need to leave it connected to the bike. I recall this because I had to get a 24 ft serial cable and run it out my computer room window on the second floor to my garage bay!
The PC3 has the 9v adapter built in.
Actually a '99 non-California model with any similar pipe would be very close - slip ons are fairly similar.

i could be wrong but it sounds like the 9 volt power adapter eliminates the need for a 24 foot setial cable when you you transfer the map from the compoter to the pc2?
Yes, no need to run it all through the house! But of course you will still need at least a short one to connect to the PC once you walk it into your computer rooom.
