Engine Cutting Out?

Yesterday I was out riding it was about 58 degrees and my bike was warmed up to normal temps 170 degrees +/-. I noticed some missing around 4500-5000 RPM. the tach would drop for a millisecond and the power would just drop out very quickly. As I continued my ride I tried some aggressive roll ons and noticed that the bike was doing more of the same and even at higher RPMs 7000 or so. The heavier throttle input seemed to make the problem worse as some of the cutting out was very noticable and disrupting as the bike tried to accelerate. It seemed not to happen in the higher Rpm range though, say 9000 and above. The bike is new to me and has run well for the month I have owned it up until now. It starts and idles without a glitch. It has a pc2 and a micron pipe for mods. Any ideas on where to start with this, my first impression is that it is electrical because of the abruptness with which it occurs??? has it been recently washed and was wet? fuel just added to the tank (possible water ) after the simple things , work up. eliminate the pc. check plugs ect

It has not been wet in days, fairly fresh gas though. I do not know anything about how to eliminate the pc any clue on that??? I will check the plugs and try to track it down. If anyone has anymore ideas please let me know. thanks alot Fred

The symptoms (misses under load at middle rpm, clears out up top) are often ignition breakdown indicators. As fixer noted look for moisture, particularly around the plugs/plug caps. It could also be the plugs themselves, or less likely, the plug wires, if not that, perhaps the coils. Have you done anything at all to the bike recently? I suppose it could be the PC running the thing so rich in the middle that the plugs can't fire it, so, again as 'fixer noted take that out of the equation. And, check all the wiring connections.

Just an update I pulled the pc out and cleaned the k&n air filter which was very dirty, It seemed to run better not skipping but it started to rain so I didn't have a great chance to run it.

I had very similar problems with my PCII and eventually just pitched it. Junk it is, Junk. Mine was less than 4 months old and dynojet didn't even want to help me trouble shoot the problem. All they wanted to do was sell me a PCIII. Take the PC off and I'd say your problem will be solved, add a FPR or modify your own to get nearly the same results as the PC.

Thanks alot I'm just gonna ride it for a while w/o the pc and just see how it goes. I'll keep you guys up to date

Hey, just a quick reply hoping to help...
The ground connections on the PC2 have caused lots of problems on many bikes. Make double sure you have a healthy ground connection from the PC2 to the negative battery terminal. So many people get funky symptoms caused by this.
If you want to try putting the PC2 back in just keep this in mind.
