I found someone with an '02 VFR with 4,500 miles. It is in showroom condition and completely stock. Should I decide to get it, are there any concerns I should have over a five year old bike that hasn't been outside the garage much? It's never even seen rain.
The 7th Generation VFR looks incredible. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. The only thing I sort of don't like about the '02 are the black rims (I prefer the grayish/silver ones.) What are the chances I could find someone willing to swap rims?
Also, aside from body and wheel colors, are there any differences between any of the '02-'07 models? I'm not talking about mechanical differences, just appearance.

Take it to a dealer and have them do the recalls on it if they have not been done already (call the dealer with VIN number and they can check if it has been done). Change the oil, brake/clutch fluids, coolant, and the tires it should be good as new.
If you can't find someone to trade wheels, you can have yours powdercoated for a couple hundred bucks.
Cosmetic differences from 02-07 are colors, and on the 06+ models: clear turn signals, shaded windshield, silver brake/clutch master cylinders, and body color section between the headlights instead of black. Maybe some other small things I am forgetting.
I have a question about how the '02, between the headlights, is black in color. How difficult would it be to make it red? Is is just replacing that small piece with a red one or would it entail a paint job? If a paint job is necessary, what are we looking at in terms of work? Would the entire front fairing have to come off?
About the '02's amber-colored turn signal lenses, is getting clear ones as simple as replacing them with clear lenses from one of the newer models?

just buy the bug screen from somone on the post (sorry, cant remember who makes it), but it will match your color AND keep the bugs from shooting up the air hole on the front and popping you in the kneck!

You lost me. The bug screen and wind shield are two different things, right? The bug screen is only that little red piece in the middle (beneath the wind screen and in the middle of the headlights) that has (what appears to be) mesh in that cut out 'hole'?
I'm not new to motorcycles, however, I am to the VFR.
Travis (Rivcyco) makes what he calls a "bug buster." It is steel mesh that covers the small hole at the base of the windscreen. The bottom part of the bug buster covers up the black plastic area between the headlights and is painted in Italian red to match the bike, effectively making the area between the headlights body colored. It would be the easier/probably cheapest way to color that area.
I MIGHT be interested in a wheel swap. I have silver and would prefer the black...I think it would make the white VFR look more athletic. By the time we get done unmounting and mounting tires and wheels and shipping it might just be more economical to have them powder-coated. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

On a white VFR, I think I'd have to agree that black wheels would probably look better.

They LOOK good but I imagine those suckers get nasty looking in a hurry with brake dust, etc. I'd like to see one white with black.
Suprisingly the VFR wheels stay pretty clean. Most bikes have Black wheels which you think would show lots of other dirt easy but they don't. I've Seen VFRTiger's bike in person and the white is Drop Dead Sexy, it just looks awesome. IIRC it has metal flake in it to match the bikes paint, total drool in person.
