No. Front has diff axle spacers and rotor holders.

Rear from 5th gen can be made to fit a 4th gen by machining, find zRoYz as he's done it on a 4th gen track bike.

In a nutshell - the rear wheel can be fitted if you:

a) remove the existing rotor bolts and fit countersunk ones, or

b ) relieve the surfaces in the 5th Gen wheel that would otherwise foul said existing rotor bolts.

With the VFRD-induced drought on 5.5" 3rd Gen rear wheels - I think there must eventually be a run on 5.5" 5th/6th Gen rear wheels for us measurement-challenged 5.0" 4th Gen owners. AB is right about the axle spacers, not sure about the bearings (look for info from Safe-T on that). But off the top of my head I'm sure that people have fitted pre-RR CBR600 forks or fork lowers (to get the additional adjustability) to both 4th and 5th Gen VFRs using their OEM front wheels, so it must be do-able.

should have been more clear in my question....i was tempted into possible purchasing a dymag wheel for my 97...but long term i might be getting a '98 as a replacement....so i was hoping the wheel would be fwd compatible.....also the race tech fork mods.

If it's a rear wheel for the '97 it will fit the '98 but you will need a single-nut rear spindle. If it's a front wheel I don't know for sure.
