I've been searching and searching and have already asked this, but never got an answer.

Is there a cross reference for thermostats? The dealer wants $35 and I'm not paying that much for a thermostat. I've never heard of any vehicle that used a $35 thermostat.

If nobody knows, can someone post pics of the 5th gen t-stat. I dont mind looking thru t-stats and making one fit.

*EDIT*

Just saw the procedure on how to change it. Who the hell's idea was it to put in there???? LOL Might as well wait a bit and check my valve clearances since I hear a tick tick.

If you've already got the T-Stat out, maybe you could take it to an autoparts store and have them find one that's similar.

Or, maybe even a Honda auto dealership?

Not out yet. I was gonna replace it this weekend but looks like its gonna take awhile to get the dang thing out. I'm in a tight spot. I have an engine being rebuilt for my vehicle and I know I need to get the valves adjusted on my bike. I dont have insurance or tags for my ninja 250 so thats out of the question.

Guess I'll just keep that right rad covered for now.

The t-stats shaft part looks longer than a vehicles'.

If someone could put a digital caliper on it all the way around it and give me the diameter that would be great.

Hold, please,.......5th and 6th gens are the same, aren't they?

5th and 6th ARE the same.

1.730" dia.

2.251" total length

The "Plunger section", (for lack of better term), is off center. I don't recall if NEEDS to be off center or not. (Replaced mine with another stocker).

I sware there was a reference posted, somewhere. Seems like it was out of a Honda car. BUT don't quote me.

There's a Stant model number that's not a direct drop-in that some folks claim to have modded to fit. I'm looking on this disaster I call my desk and don't see the note with the number, but it may be on the board somewhere.
