Hey guys. How long do you usually get from a chain. The last one i put on has had it and its only done around 15,000km and i'm sure i normally get more. I'm preety good with keeping up the servicing on it and stuff. Just wondering if my rear hub sliding forward ( see my other post) might have shortened its life

I bought one of the heaviest chains on the market, Regina ZRP.
Unfortunately the Zring type orings are crap, compared to a tradional oring. The zrings started coming apart at 9,000 mile, I'm now on a traditional Regina oring, not as beefy as the ZRP but it has traditional orings.
My original Rk, went 17,000 mile before the first hint of any internal rusting.

45,000km (OEM chain), using a Scotoiler Rear tyre lasts about 4000km
My Superhawk had 30k miles on it with the original chain using a Scottoiler. I changed the VFR chain about 19k miles, but I tend to not take great care of it.
Longevity of the chain depends on a number of variables, like how you ride, how you care for it (lube and adjustment), and even weather. I've had new chains last as little as 10k miles, due to lots of wet riding on interstates (trip to Florida and back, mostly in rain), but I've also gotten as much as 20k+ miles from a new one. I don't use any type of automatic oiler, but usually clean and lube at the end of each day, when touring. And I always replace both sprockets when I get a new chain.
I've had good mileage from RK and Tsubaki (Sigma) chains, but may try a DID next. I must be hard on chains,as I average probably about 15k miles on them.

anywhere from 11,000km to 20,000 so far on my vfr's..funny thing they seem to last longer doing long trips than they do driving the bag off it locally... smile.gif
1st and only chain so far...40,000km. I just lubed it every 1000km, only cleaned it twice (wiped down the links on the outside with WD40 soaked rag.) A few of the links were getting sticky and sprockets were showing signs of wear when I changed it.
