I've searched here and elsewhere and read a couple posts that suggested that it may be the same part from a car (Mazda/Toyota/Suzuki or something else) but no part # was ever mentioned.
Anyone know for sure? $42Cdn is a bit steep for such a p.i.t.a. part to replace that may or may not work or fail again soon as some have said. Considering a similar looking $10 thermostat from a car can last a lifetime.
Sorry its a 1999.

I just installed a t-stat from a 90's model honda civic. You have to grind it down a little, but what I did was get a dremel with a cut off wheel. Cut off the washer part of the old t-stat (dont know the technical name but the part that the sits on the thermostat housing) and put it on top of the honda t-stat. Now trace it and grind or cut it down.

Let me look up the part # and do a how-to

well at least you have one of the three key factors...............opening temp...........the size port or opening in the stat and how far the port opens is just if not more important. as an example, many have removed the stat from cars and trucks to make them run cooler. end result many times is the vehicle runs HOTTER! the reason being the speed and flow of the rads are designed for that system. if you drastically increase the flow, the coolant travels through the rads so quickly, the coolant is not 'COOLED" in the rad and recycled hotter each time...................keep looking for an exact t-stat from a car, just cheaper, not more work..................

not every idea is good...........but without people thinking we would still be dragging our women around by their hair!

They're the same. Same height, same opening. Just different size flanges for fitting in a t-stat housing.
