Laser Exhaust Question

Ok so I just sent paypal for a set of Laser Xtreme slipons for my 07 RWB VFR.  The question I have is the guy that I bought them off of had them on his 6th gen for a few miles.  I have been hearing bad things about fitment.  I am wondering if because they were installed on a bike already am I going to have the same issues?  If so is it as easy of a fix as getting longer bolts?  Thanks.

First, loose fit everything in position. Use a plastic hammer to gently tap fittings in place and get a rough lineup of everything.
Personally, I would leave the expansion springs off(all of them) until last.
And, not everyone has the same amount/degree of difficulty with them, so relax.
The only reason I used longer hanger bolts with spacers was to spread them to get my license plate in between.

Ok I was getting worried that I would have problems after reading all of the threads with people having trouble.

Mine already had the Lazers on when I bought the bike last Sept. so I can't offer any advice on the installation.  I have read the threads though, and it seems that most problems were with earlier Lazer systems.  Few report problems with the new ones.  Once you're done the install you will LOVE the sound!!! :unsure: [image: Posted Image]

I bought Lasers in 2004 for my 03 and install was easy and fit was nice. You'll love em.

Ok it seems to be hit or miss with the fitment issues.  I will post up once I get them on.

My 04 came with them and they never were quite aligned. One side always looked a little like it was pointing down more than the other, but unless you really studied it, you didn't notice.  

I futzed around with them one time and decided I was fine with them the way they were.  YMMV.

Veefer Madness... I think I'm gonna search for longer bolts and do what you did!  

AND THE SOUND.  wow, its just magic, isn't it?  Its now one of the favorite parts of my bike...the idle, ripping through the gears, it all sounds very cool and original around here in the world of twins and inline 4's.

Didn't think the fitment was too much of an issue with mine.  I will use longer bolts to get the spacing wider to get my plate up in between, but for now I'm happy.  Not dead straight on center, but pretty darn good after adding a couple extra washers here and there to get alignment better.

Guess it depends how fussy you are.....

anybody know the type of bolt to pick up?  I left my laser instructions / part list at home was hoping to locate one while I was out today.

Ok so I have one more question.  Did you guys replace the stock gasket that was in the end of what I would call the midpipe after the cat or not?  To clarify the gasket that is in the section of piping that bolts to the cat.  Thanks guys.

Actually, I didn't even use mine..... :huh:
As for the bolts, I found that same strength allen heads around 8mmx65-70mm and a couple sizes of 'collars/bushings' should do. The range of sizes/collars you use will depend on how wide your plate is......
Make sure the bolts have threads as far up to the top as you can, for more flexibility in the fitting. :pissed:
