What Bike Covers Do You Use

I just bought myself a Nelson Rigg MC-100 bike Cover. Feels durable, packs somewhat small, but I got one size too small. I bought a medium, and its skin tight. I had to fold my mirrors flush to get it on the bike to begin with.

So what covers are you using? Pack size? Fit?

I'm thinking a large Nelson Rigg MC-100 would fit the 4th gens well.

I use old bedsheets in the garage, none outside.

I use a fleet farm special, forgot the brand but it fits perfect and even has extra protection around the exhaust area. If you're looking for a really good cover, invest in a dowco, they're the best and the company is out of WISCONSIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a cheap nelson rigg to keep dust off in the shop.

For regular outside use I would check out Geza Gear.

Any cover outside for any length of time wreaks havoc underneath! In a damp climate, anyway . . . .

I have a dowcow half cover , more or less just a cover to make bike less visable and less admiring with mild rain and sun protection , its very small and thin.

havent used it in a while cause i dont commute any longer, or been on any overnight trips

+1. My bike is kept in my garage when I'm not riding. I only keep it covered in the winter when I go a few weeks or longer without riding, so I just throw a sheet over it.

Free covers from your Honda, Kawi, or Yami dealer.......they usually discard the heavy-duty covers from new bike or atv crates.

Word of warning - I used a cover for a couple of weeks outdoors. The buffeting of wind wore a hole through the paint at the tail.

For everyday outdoor use, I use a Pack-Lite WeatherShield by CoverCraft. Totally waterproof, but home-washable, breathable and stuffs into a small sack. Not as small as a Geza, but much smaller than the "usual suspect" m/c covers (Nelson Rigg, Dowco, etc.) Available in black, and several other colors. $110-$170, depending on size, which is very expensive, but "the best" often is...

I bought one for my ST1300, mainly because I had been using a cheapo cover and finally decided I wanted something that worked better. I had been very impressed with the custom-fit WeatherShield on the wife's car, so that's why I chose the same fabric for my bike (the only one of my bikes that lives outside). It feels like a lightweight nylon, but it definitely isn't the same. Water just beads and won't go through--it just puddles on the cover if there's a valley. Because of the price, they don't sell many, so you would probably have to wait a couple of weeks for the factory to make it... Best price I found was at www.carcovermania.com. HTH.

+1 on the Nelson Rigg MC-100.
Mine came just the right size and I use it for storage during the winter months to keep stuff off.
May bring it along on more than 2 day rides to unfamiliar places, but most trips are to a friend/family location so garage / covered parking is available.
Pretty happy with it, as it would compress more into the handy bag if I tried harder. Mostly a space issue, not weight.

I use the Nelson Rigg MC-902 on all mine.

The Nelson Rigg MC-100 (large) works great on the 6th gen with ample room. Probably the same for your 4th gen. Just try to keep it out of the wind for those fabric rubbing on paint issues.

I use a Nelson Rigg Defender on my 4th gen that is in the garage. Works great!

At work I use a half cover on the 6th gen to keep the UV off the seat (as much as possible), and I am using a small CoverMax. The CoverMax is a P.O.S., and in two months usage, it is falling apart: velcro frayed, elastic stretched out. :biggrin: I throw a microfiber towel over the windscreen before putting the cover on to keep the wind buffeting from scratching it. I expect to purchase a new half-cover by September.

I have a Nelson Rigg Defender as well. The bike is under cover but not out of the sun. It is amazing how much that cover has faded in a year. I can only imaged how much the paint would have faded without the cover.

I use a Nelson Rigg half cover (I orget the model number), size large. It's great because of how it folds up small enough to fit in my tank bag. It also comes with a fanny pack that the cover fits into.

"No name" $20 bike cover off eBay. Bought one size too large, so I hold it down with a 20lbs dumbbell.

I have a soft fabric type cover that is grey that wish I knew the name of as I want another one for my new Concours 14. Does anyone know what type I am talking about? I have seen car covers made out of the material but can't find the motorcycle one and don't remember who I bought it from on Ebay. Very soft, non scratching etc. PM me if you know or post here too. Very well made cover...But not something you could pack and carry very easy, as it is a very bulky cover.

still using my medium Nelson Rigg MC-100. The medium actually is a really nice fit for the 4th gen. Problem is that you can't leave any luggage aside from a small tank bag on the bike. Its that tight. But it does fit nice, packs small, and it gives excellent protection.

I've got a dowco and it does the job well. I hate letting the rain hit my machine so I cover her when I come to work, over to a friends, or if I'm my lady friends place. I've got the full cover and it's pretty easy to put on as long you know what you are doing!

I bought the Classic MotorGear Extreme from the local Walmart. Elastic at the bottom for a snug fit, rubberized j-hooks for securement. Two breather holes so it doesn't go flapping in the wind. There is a soft inner panel for the windshield and some kind of silver cloth fabirc that goes over hot pipes. Not too bad for Walmart. 40 bucks. I bought the sportbike size as indicated on the box. It fits my 2004 VFR very well.

Nelson Rigg UV-2000 Motorcycle Half Cover, works well. I had planed on using it at work since I park in the desert sun, but chickened out because of the possibility of paint damage (to help prevent fading I use spray detailer on it couple of times a week). I've done two overnight trips and it works well for that. Packs small, attaches securely, and discourages (I hope) people form messing with the bike. Newenough had it for $30. They also have a review if you are interested.

Bought 2 car covers and 1 MC cover here a few months back. Car covers holding up OK in the sun, bird, and tree droppings.
Bike cover holding up like new, but is use in garage.

I forget which covers, but they were cheaper ones, about $50 - $60 for all 3.

Ditto the comment on Geza Covers. They pack small, fit very well and I haven't had any problems with them rubbing the paint.

I use Dowco on all mine. They are 1st Gen and I use large size on both the 750 and 1000's. Have used them outside for long periods of time (not during NE USA winter) and they hold up well, no paint damage from rubbing/flapping and absolutely dry underneath. No moisture accumulation when it is damp or rainy outside. They can fold up pretty small, about the size of a Clymer manual and twice as think.

FYI, my WeatherShield is now turning a bit purple (it was black). Still works great, but considering the cost, I'd have expected a bit better, ah, weathering. (And considering the amount of sun we get here--can't imagine the color it would be in a place where the sun wasn't a rare sight!)

I have a Dowco and like it for garage use. Nicely made but big and bulky.
My wife just got a Geza which will be great for parking her bike at work since it is so small and light.

So which cover will work with a 46 liter topcase on the bike?

I have a Nelson Rigg cover like Yoshi's.........and i get A LOT OF CONDENSATION trapped underneath it. I'd look at the other options.

Here's a Geza cover.... They breath (most important part) , they are reinforced in areas that need it. I've used them for at least 10 / 15 years .... the sun is your biggest enemy, along with condensation.
By the way, it comes with mirror socks.

Generic Canadian Tire model for medium size bike, hooded mesh at front around the mirrors,
heat shields at back for mufflers, tie points underneath and a built in storage pouch.
Use it for winter storage (under cover of course) no signs of condensation the few times
I've gone out to see if she was lonely.

During the riding season an old sheet keeps pollen, dust and little bird droppings off

There are many types of breathable fabrics available. The big difference in price between the cheap covers (and tarps) and the good covers is due to the breathable fabrics. Never ever cover a bike with a non-breathable cover. Condensation build-up under the cover can do lots of damage.

I have the max cover from empire its a 3 layer cover made from Tyvek developed by DuPont.

Pro plus, is the one I have..... packs small. The main thing I use it for is to keep it out of the "SUN" on trips that run more than one day......... And the rain is for the seat and grips(Grip-Puppies).

Been there, done it. I have inherited some items that make it a pain in the butt to take my bike in and out of my shed every night. So, the days of a nice flannel sheet do not work anymore. Sun, rain, snow.... welcome to Alberta.
