Hi. I'm looking for a way to mount a RAM to the forward tank bolts on my 02 VFR. I've seen a couple of threads where this appears to be a "mod", and another thread where it appeared to be a standard mounting base. Anyone have any ideas on where this standard base can be purchased, or willing to give a description on how they modded another base? Part numbers, if you have them, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time.

You want to get a ram handle bar mount and then toss out the u-bolt. it is the right size for the tank bolts

Aha...that's what I wanted to know. So a standard u-bolt fits the tank bolt hole pattern. Thank you!

This is how i mounted my GPS, is with the tank bolt method. Yes, after you get longer bolts it works perfectly. But, the only thing I did was shave the tank-side edge of the mount's base, as when mounted it sat really close to the lip on the tank. Probably didnt have to do it, but just wanted a bit more clearance there.

For GPS, I prefer the Tank to the Grip mount.

The handlebar Ubolt mount is the RAM part. Lots of vendors have them. I got mine from cyclegadgets.com whatever.

I don't see it on their site anymore, but Ram Mount used to offer a steering stem mount that used an expandable rubber plug, Avoid it, the diameter isn't quite large enough to work on the 6th gen. It holds well enough to not fall out on its own but a light twist or pull will remove it.
