What Are The Stock Tires For 6th Gen (2007) ?

I bought my VFR (2007 model) used and it only had 3000 miles on it so I assume that the tires are stock but I'm not 100% sure. Are the Dunlop Sportmax D204's stock for the VFR? If so approximately how many miles can I expect to get out of them? They currently have 5200 miles on them.

if you check the 'downloads' area of the site there is a 2002+ shop manual and owner's manual. it'll come in handy for various data and scheduled maintenance information.

the bike uses -

front tire - 120/70 ZR17
rear tire - 180/55 ZR 17

Your owners manual will tell the exact tires the bike came with. In 2004 there were 3 options that came as stock. The manaul will list the tires that were used as stock oem tires.

I believe they were oem tires. Most everyone hates them. My friend had his cup in 1k miles.

Yes those are probably Original tires depending on how much tread is left?? I only got 4000 miles out of my rear on a 06 and the front was badly cupped at that point....

How do you guys get so much mileage out of your tires??

Yes the D204's came stock. I think I got 7k on my rear and 10k on the front, doing mostly highway commuting.

I got 3500 miles from my first set of stock bto-20's. Nicole got 17k miles from her first set.

If they say "Dunlop" on the side of them they are crap. Please do not replace what you have with more Dunlops.

Nobody will know what tires you have if your rolling fast enough :)
You will not find many Here that will give a good review on any Dunlop tire..

Keep the stickers, Michelin Or Pirelli seem to be the majority here.. See BR's PR-2 thread for a goood Railing combo.. I Am about to change out My PP's for Pirelli Diablo's.. The PP rear is almost gone with 3500 miles on it and I have 3 sets of diablo's I got real cheap from cycle gear (200.00 A set)

They drive like girlie men!
The most I've been able to get on a back tire is 4700 miles. But I don't ride them down to the cords like some guys do.

Those are one of the models of rim protectors that come with the bike. I recommend you remove them and replace them with some proper tires ASAP.

I got 4000 miles and it was just starting to show threads.. 3500 on my current Pilot powers and there is just a hint of tread left in the center (these will also get worn down to the threads) So no long (400 mile) days for me till I swap them out..

there's a huge section on tires in hear, READ IT. And then buy some continental road attacks, Pilot Road 2's, etc. You will feel a completely different bike, trust me!

The Z4's that came on my bike were literally THE worst tire I've ever had the displeasure of riding on.

My 08 came with Meteler MEZ4A on it. They don't hug the road very well and tend to slip on turns. So if it was me replacing tires, I would stay away from Metelers. :blink:

that front z4 is like a tractor tire, once you saw off the edges , it will atleast begin to turn LOL still a POS though

D204 is useless... The Roadsmart is up-to-par with the PR2 and BT021 ! I like the Roadsmarts better in the wets...

IMO, not near the tire that the PR2 is. For those that have seen my recents posts/threads, know what Im talking about.....lol.


But to keep on subject, I think anything will be better for you than the OEM tires. Best sport/touring tire yet would have to be the PR2.


Like someone else mentioned, you'll find very few good Dunlop reviews on here. That's for a reason....lol.

Stock 204's are EXCELLENT rim protectors.

I know I'm gonna' jinx mine with this post, but my stock Bridgestone Battlea$$es have over 3000 miles on em' on the 07 R-W-B with no front cupping......a first for me. I've never gotten over 1800 miles before Dunlop, and Bridgestones were front cupping.....best set I've ever had so far.............. :rolleyes:

after going through a few sets of bridgestones and horrible front tire cupping.I like the continental road attacks.never tried a dunflops.
