Thanks for the response, could I get details on the Fireblade electronics to get the RPM reading??? Also where did you get the radiators, and what bike are they from??? I will definitely have to look into No Limits, as it would be alot easier!!! Thanks again!!!

Used the original fuel tap of the RC30; vacuum.
I am Dutch but yes, the Germans really like Viffers. Lots of parts I bought in Germany and the concept of the bike comes from Germany; www.durbahn.de

Do you have a petcock or fuel tap on the tank? Just wondering how you keep the carbs from flooding. Vacuum petcock maybe? I like this bike more every time I look at. I wish there was a company in North America that took such an interest in the VFR... like the Germans do! Is it just me or does it seem like the Germans really like viffers?

Did you ever get to buy that special rear shock that was for sale on Marktplaats? I saw you placed a bid...

Seen Durbahn a lot in Performance Bikes magazine- he does some amazing stuff. Too bad it's so expensive to ship stuff over here. Guess I'll have to start making it myself.
My aunt has lived in Amsterdam for 30 years. She loves it over there.

Radiators are custom made; just 2 pieces of carton were enough to make them.
Company is based in Holland, If you want I can give you the company details.
They also make the radiators for several Paris-Dakar motorcycles.

Electronics; will remove the fairing next week to make pics

To much modifying for the price he was charging and I would still have to buy a new spring.
Hyperpro will make the rear shock when the bike is finished.

When this thing is all done you need to submit it for Performance Bikes' monthly Obsession feature.

A few years ago there was a topic about Thorsten Durbahn in PB magazine, they made several pictures of his workplace.
My bike can be seen on the 1 of the picures in the middle of the workplace (Durbahn made some parts for my bike).

My bike is not finished but when it is finished I would really like to have it in the monthly Obsession feature.

Hi VFROEM; I really like your bike and all the attention to detail, I am wondering where you got the pistons from? I suppose they are custom made. My 5th gen motor has the special sleeve material that
makes them hard to bore ,there is a company here in the U.S that does boaring on engines with exotic materials , I believe they are Millinum technologies, I am wondering weather your engine has cast iron
cylinders or something else, anyway best of luck with it. eddie

Hi Eddie,

My pistons are made by JE (US company)
Check this forum and you will find a few VFR800 bigbore projects (also JE pistons).

Thorsten is a good man! :fing02: Bought alot parts from him for my RC51. You guys should see what he has done with the RC51, CBR1000RR, RC30, Hawk, and a Duc! Amazing! Just wish he would make radiator air scoops for the VFR, like he did for the RC51. :idea3:

I am sure I have not mentioned all.... (but cannot remember all mods after almost 7 years...)

Impressive list... are you tracking the before and after weight on the scales???

The before weight with full fueltank, centre stand (standard equipment in Europe) and duoseatcover was 239KG.

To give an idea of the present weight: I can lift the bike with just 1 hand (and I am not a bodybuilder  ) .
Another example: last week when I put the left front fairing panel on the bike it was directly out of balance and almost fell to the right. (but to be honest with an empty fueltank).

'In progress'

Just to have an idea about how it will look.
Seat, mirrors, innerpanels and other small things still have to be fitted.

Yesterday I have received the smal A123 battery.

Vfroem, I'm sure you can take a little more weight out by chopping the rear fender :)

Front guard (fender) looks good painted but I'd have found it hard to paint a CF guard...

What's the shift lever off? (CBR1100XX?)

rear fender; it still has a German registration, therefore the rear fender has to be original :( ... till I get a Dutch registration  .
The rear fender is 1.1KG much of weight to gain.

Front fender is indeed CF; prefab done by a friend of mine, paintjob by a local company.

Gear lever; VFR800Fi; alloy.
Did you the sidestand ? Yamaha R1; alloy also. Front sprocket bolt; titanium

This bike is by far my fave vfr. I can only dream of the power ups you have there, and i know it must ride awsome.
:fing02:
Do you use a 'speedo healer' on the clock? Or was it ok?
If you ever come over to the isle of man, you must look me up. Ill help put you up if you like and definately show you round the TT course

Thanks !
I did not use a speedo healer; a small metal ring has bene made behind the front sprocket to give the right pulses to the clock.

Isle of Man; on my personal 'to do' list !

Yes, I do use a lightweight battery: A123 cells: 0.36 KG (original battery 4.2KG)

Where did you get your Ti exhaust from? I'm still planning on having the big bore treatment done next year in Holland, and am currently looking for exhaust systems. So far, Motad looks like it'll be the easiest to source. I also want to have my frame powdercoated black. I painted it, but powder coating is much more durable!

Nice bike !!
Really like the black frame.

The Ti exhaust has been made by Rob Lindemans.
It is a Ti copy of the 2 brothers Racing exhaust I had before.

What sort of performance increases have you seen from the additonal power/ reduced weight? Quarter mile, etc...
#29
Another question - tell me about that clutch cover please!!! :491:

The bike is still 'in progress'; only made dynoruns in the last 7 years.
Still have to make the first ride on the tarmac....

But it will be quicker than a regular VFR750F 90-93 bike:

168KG vs 240KG
125HP vs 90HP

1.34 HP/KG vs 2.67 HP/KG
