does the VTEC seem to hit harder in the cold weather? Sure seemed like it when its above 60 degree's I honestly cannot feel it transition into VTEC it just changes tone and goes faster :biggrin: but it seems under 50 degree's it really kicks in.. Nothing scary but it definatly is much more noticable...
I guess its due to the denser air at night and in the cold.
I have noticed the same thing. I attribute it to the cool dense air as well.
yep, notice the engine temp, when it's hovering around 66, 67 (where it usually enabled VTEC for the 1st time) it can be abrupt.
Mine is very smooth all the time now and I've just ridden in 5-6c temps, 250 miles (no heated gear!!) and not one bad transition. Other times it will catch me out but thats generally when I'm in 5th on a straight lugging her up to 100 or so.

When I ride in the cold it is not harsh at all. It is still very smooth it just seems to pull a little harder after the transition.
Mine did it one time felt like I hit the nitro button... Only did it once..
Its not ruff its just more noticable. With teh PC, and mufflers I really can't feel it during warm weather it just changes tone and goes faster...

LOL - Mine seems to do the opposite. When its warm out, I can definatly feel it when it kicks in, but when its cold out (less that say 55 or 60) it seems to be a softer hit. Still noticeable at any time though, definatly not "soft" by any means.....I thought it would get better with time, but after 13k, still about the same. Guess I need to use vtec more :)
Rarely notice mine anymore but when the temperature is in the 30's and 40's it's like being rear-ended when it kicks in so I'd say very abrupt.
From all the stuff I have seen the Power Comander and exhaust really help the VTEC.
I really can't feel mine when its warm out.
I like telling people this "yeah....its got VTEC...its like warp drive...but diffrent..."
Phhhh My dam shop is so slow I should shut her down and go ride :fing02:

I'd like to stop by and buy something, but don't know what at the moment. Have the bike on the trainer, but have not used it but once and was worn out. Have to nurse myself back to health again so I can ride more and come over and shop :-)

I notice no difference, maybe your tense because its cold and it feels faster
Now that its being mentioned. I ride everyday and lately when I head out at 0 dark thirty it been in the mid 40's. I wait untill the bike has warmed up over 150 and when I accellerate into the V-tec relm It kicks noticably hard. It really does feel like a bigger bike.

errrr nope... It does "feel" faster though...
always race through VTEC in 1st or second the first time it's used, then it's as smooth and seamless as, well a 5th gen :goofy:
Nope. I seldom feel VTEC transition in any kind of weather.
I also feel more of a kick when the temps are below 50 deg. But my bike is always kind of abrupt when vtec kicks in. And I'm not complaining. I like the Jeckyl & Hyde effect...
jeez, I totally jinks myself saying what I said above, my bike has been jerking and spiking it's way through VTEC in 5th all week, being very abrupt, like you momentarily stamp on the brake for a split second... NOT nice :mad:
so far 6 months of ownership, a tour across Wales not one bad transition then suddeny there all coming at once... I don't appreciate it at all and I'll eventually want to get rid... again, and if I do I won't be going back to a vtec ever again, such hassle and a damn shame as the rest of the bike is an absolute peach to ride
