Scotts Steering Stabilizer Prices

Of those who have purchased a new 6th gen steering stabilizer, who had the best price?

I may be wrong here, but do you really need a steering stabilizer on a VFR? My aftermarket rear shock is 12mm longer than stock and I have the front front lowered 5mm from stock setting and i find it still very stable. Stock the VFR is not twitchy and when you compare the rake and trail to race replica full on sport bikes you see why.

Have you done any suspension upgrades or set your bike up for your weight and riding style?

I don't know of anyone who has installed a steering stabilizer (damper) on a VFR.

I think NYMBYSS has one, and a couple others too. I have one from my F4i, but I bought it used.

AARPVFR has one but I think he moved it over from his CBR when he sold it. He may be able to give insight on pricing and mounting.

I have the Scott's on my VFR and bought it used off the forums here. I thought I needed it but it turned out I really didn't. I installed it and then took a good look at my front tire to find that it was cupped. Changed tires and no more wobbles. It does look pretty cool though.

Ya do now. I ran 'em on both my 6th gen & 3rd gen. Awaiting custom both job for RC45 when I finish up Ohlins suspension . for rear
As to whether VFR needs it.....its there in case you need it & it save my ass at least one time when I hit serious road debris. Peace of mind ya know.

I bought my straight from Scotts. no discounts that I ever saw. They were really good about it & taking care of me.

how did you run one on a 3rd gen? theres no where to mount the little pin thing.

I thought I needed it on my 4th gen (Front forks raised through clamps 13mm and rear shimmed up to max as dog bone will allow) when I felt some slight shakes through my handlebars early last season, but it turned out that it was mostly caused by my front "Dunslop's" cupped condition. A switch to new Michelin PRCT2s totally quieted down the front end. Anyway, I don't see the return you'll get from the typical $400+ bucks will be worth it. It certainly looks bling, but like 190 section rear tires, not really neccesary on VFRs. JMOs

shortly after buying my bike i watched several stunt and crash videos. went out and bought my scotts the next day. don't really know if it is worth the money, but it adds piece of mind...........and it looks good with my gold shorty levers. BLING!!! :blush:

I have a Scotts on my 5th gen. I crashed once due to a tank slapper after hitting road debris on another bike. Cheap insurance in my opinion.
