Anyone have any experience with stainless steel brake lines.
I never installed these on a bike but had them on a fiero and tightened up brake feel quite a bit.
I am going to check my pads when it warms up before I start riding it and am considering this mod. It
is not real expensive and an wondering if it's really worth it.
Fluid is kinda dark so I am thinking on replacing my fluid anyways.
On my '96 that was the second best mod that I did.
You will see an immediate difference in braking... Especially, now that the stock lines are 14 years old.
The process is extremely easy. Less than an hour to completely install.
If you are in the my area, I would even help you out.
The best mod was changing to a '98 rear wheel. That made my '96 handle like it should have from the factory.
The third best mod was the TwoBros. CF slip-on.
I miss my '96 VFR.

My old bike was an 07 Yamaha R6s that I purchased while I was stationed at Ft. Campbell.
I was spoiled with the 4 piston brakes and just want to tighten up the feel alittle bit. I think the actual
braking power itself is more then fine for the riding I do.

I have Galfer SS brake lines on my 95.
Do it! SS lines improves braking response/feel tremendously on the 4th gen brakes. Just make sure you do a good job bleeding our lines after installing them.

I think Galfers generally go for cheaper, but are just as well made as the other big brands.
Spiegler might have more color options and maybe some flex/pivoting joint adjusment feature (which I don't think is really neccessary, as long as you install and route your lines carefully). Please note though, that you might have to find custom legnth lines if you have added bar risers to your bike.
Galfers give the best bang for the buck IMO.
+1 for stainless lines, no question, do it! Works wonders not just for stopping, but for the increased feel at the lever. They are much more precise than the stock stuff, I like precision!
I also got a good result from switching to stainless steel brakelines on my 94 (with EBC HH pads). Excellent feel and modulation, and zero fade with the HH pads.
The lines I used are Fren Tubo (Italy), very nicely made with clear plastic over the s/s weave which made them legal for road use in Australia.
I've now fitted them to my SO's 95 as I have gone with custom Earls lines for the USD conversion on my 94. I think it's a must-do mod if you're updating any bike for increased performance.
If you compare costs, you will find a good deal in Bonaco SS lines custom made. Also, consider a bleed-able banjo bolt to greatly ease the bleeding of air from the top end of the system. link banjo
How do you go about ordering them? You just give them length, tube thickness, screw in fitting at bottom, and have the pitch of both of them match the banjo fitings you suggested?
