The winter here in Ontario is getting longer and more unbearable for me, so I figured I would do something about it. I did what my wife would do. SHOP!! I just ordered my new Honda side cases from David Silver Spares in the UK. (Great Price even with the shipping). Now I can't wait until they arrive to install them even though it is now -10C and yet another snow storm approaching. Lots to look forward to. What could I shop for next to help pass the long winter?
What do you guys do to help whittle down this dreaded Canadian season?

Well, I'm in the same boat here in WI. I spend my life on VFRD and ride my bicycle, outside for fun. :blink: (yes I know).
Dream, go to bike shows (December & January in TO), read - just picked up Mark Richardson's Zen & Now and Neil Peart's Ghost Rider, each recommended, plan routes for the spring.
Hey, Friday the 13th occurs three times this year - so you could plan to ride down to Port Dover during the February & March thaws...
I got a new ZG DB windscreen, mirror extenders, new mirrors with integrated lights, got a fix the blue connector (one iffy connection), and I'm now shopping for new leather pants and jacket and new SIdi boots.
Gotta keep busy!

And no excuses, Joe Foe; I met guys that came over from BARFALOAD then too! :dry: FEBRUARY, MARCH AND NOVEMBER!
hehehee..... best antedote to the depressing winter season.... plan to go to the French/Italian alps and pump some adrenaline.... does it for me (ohhhh....and yes.... drink wine)

Likewise looking for hard cases and contacted a dealer in Lindsay to scope these out. He tells me the factory versions have been discontinued but he might have alternatives which I assume will be Givi. I will check out David Silver for sure to check the pricing. With the pounding that the CDN dollar has taken recently I'm afraid to look.
Other than getting through this impossibly long winter - started snowing here in November and continues to snow as I write this - I spend a lot of evenings scanning the forums, reading Jupiter's travel and a few other new bike books, re-reading all the articles I have clipped off the web VFR related and re-reading old bike magazines pretty much sums up this winter at least for me
My solution has been permanent and 100% effective for me.
Come on down to the bottom of Little Tujunga Canyon at 8 AM tomorrow for a little edge burning. :wheel:

I think EVEN with the exchange and shipping factored in, you will be VERY SURPRISED!
Remember, with the discontinuation of the VFR, they're pricing them low along with added fact that virtually ANY colour is now non-current. :fing02:

On behalf of you riders suffering thru an interminable winter. I resolve to do the following:
I will not wear any sunscreen, no matter how sunny it gets. I will not wear my cooling vest, no mater how hot it gets(today's high around 73F)
And, if it helps, I will not ride more than 230 miles tomorrow on my newly shod VFR with BT021's before the big game - go steelers.
How's that?

btw, if it helps., 4 yrs in North Chicago without a bike for 6 months because there was more than 4" of snow on the ground - the whole time...BTDT
I helped shorten winter by getting out yesterday on a 71 degree day and riding my dirtbike all day on the trails. Today, only a high of 51 projected, I plan to get a short ride on the VFR in before the Super Bowl.
