I have searched this on google and came up with a couple threads from a different forum and one from here with a bike similar to fotomoto's had them installed. One of them was someone whose name was Mcloed or something like that.
I read that the customer service sucks for convertibars but the product is awesome. I am just looking for making the VFR comfortable for real long rides. Money is really not an option because the Army recently pulled me out of school and activated me out of IRR for a second tour in Iraq.
I wouldn't mind the LSL bars either but am not sure on how I would modify the windshield and that to get it to fit. I seen some pictures but it was a really early vfr in the pictures. I dont mind having regular bars or clip ons I am just wanting to hear some opinions and experiences with either one.
Also I am looking at getting a nice seat for my VFR I read that corbin makes the gunfighter for the VFR. Sergeant seat also will redo a seat if you send them your seat pan similar to how they make the aftermarket ones for different bikes.
Just want to be able to make it comfortable to ride the tires off it
Convertibars are great. I have them on my 04 and they really do make a difference. I also have a Sargent World Sport Seat and other mods if you are interested further I'd be happy to list them all for you.
I can't help with the bars, but can comment a little on the seat. I have had a Corbin on a previous bike, and I had Sargent rework a stock seat for my VFR. I am happier with the Sargent version. It was cheaper, and I got to specify what I wanted. Because Sargent did not and does not make a seat for the VFR before 1998, you just have to use their custom seat services. You can read their site, and then call them to place the order.
Now, in all the seat threads that are out here, you will find varying opinions, because there are varying rear ends. I've been happy with both, but I like the Sargent better for cost, comfort, and looks.
1. Convertibars.
2. Sargent World Sport Seat.
3. BLS Peg Lowering Blocks.
4. Hot Grips.
5. Throttlemeister.
6. MRA Vario Touring Screen.
7. Stealth Edging.
8. Galfer Braided Brake and Clutch Lines.
9. Scottoiler touring model.
10. 80 GB iPod with Otterbox and Techmount.
11. XM Radio with Techmount.
12. Autocom. Transceiver with Techmount.
13. GPS with Ram tank mount.
14. Centech Fuse Panel.
15. Tank Slapper.
16. Geelong Carbon Craft tank protector.
17. Panel Protectors...that don't do anything. In fact when my son dropped the bike in the garage all they did was bend and thusly crack the panel they were there to protect...NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
My next project will be to consolidate items 11 and 13 into one unit with a Zumo 550 replacing my current Garmin Quest.
I am looking at picking up a double bubble, seat, convertibars/lsl bars, and stainless lines up front.
I would like the bars to be about 2" up and about 1 1/2" to 2" forward but am not a fan of cutting the stock fairing up front. I am kind of scared about doing that because I am not friends with plastic fabbing.
I am leaning toward the sergeant seat and using the gel insert thats already in it again. I like how it would be my stock seat pan but one that would be whatever I tell them. I just want some stiffer foam that is contoured pretty good for the long hauls but not as stiff/heavy as a corbin. I sat on a corbin that was on an 05 R6 and I understand thats a different monster. I think they qoute at 398 for the works adn the corbin is like 650 or something,.

2" forward? Wouldn't you be more comfy by moving them back towards the rear of the bike?
As the OP mentioned, I've made my own superbike bar kits for both my 4 and 6 gens but, and this a big but, my 4gen edition is with a cbr upper fairing. I have no experience with a stock 4gen fairing/handlebar combo but I'd suspect that a high dollar LSL kit is not worth it as those rearward facing "winglets" as I like to refer to them really screw things up. The 6gen winglets flare more upwards and barely curve back so there is MUCH more room for changes.
I've also done both clip on swaps and superbike bar kits on my former superhawk. That fairing design is very similar to the 4gen. Adding 90-01 VFR bars to the VTR is a popular mod but its winglets can hit the hi-beam and/or engine stop switches on full lock. That mod had about the right height for me but I wanted more pull back so I went with the handlebar/riser design as it is nearly limitless setup (within cable, lines, limits of course). But to do this I had to start trimming those winglets starting just behind the mirrors (shown in pic below) to get the height and pullback I desired. YMMV
My conclusion: To use a superbike style bar on the 4gen will require major surgery; trimming both the "winglets" and the inner black cosmetic covers plus drilling the top triple for the mounts.
I don't mean for this to come off as "preachy" but here's some other advice. Exercise and get in better shape. I can easily ride double to triple the distance in comfort in my 40's than I did in my 30's. :fing02:
Convertibars says that they will fit...although they won't guarantee the fit. The search was for a 1995 VFR 750.
ConvertiBARS kit for Honda VFR-750
The Honda VFR-750 is a confirmed ConvertiBARS installation.
A confirmed installation means that Invex Corp., and or a customer, have successfully installed a ConvertiBARS Kit on a motorcycle within the range of years listed above and the rise listed below has been achieved, with or without longer lines, while being able to reach the steering stops without permanent damage to the motorcycle. The year range noted above is only an estimate of the years that the motorcycle appears to have had little or no change to the handlebars and fairing, and so the installer should find similar installation issues as noted in the bike specific install notes. A confirmed installation however, does not mean the kit is guaranteed to fit. Neither Invex Corp nor ConvertiBARS are liable for any labor times or costs associated with the installation or un-installation of either ConvertiBARS or the stock handlebars. Positioning restrictions between low and high positions do exist. See bike specific install notes for other installation and positioning issues.

I am actually in good shape and exercise/run regularly, I am in the Army Reserve. I just got activated for my 2nd tour in Iraq in which I leave this sunday.
I have to got Ft jackson for a month then I am headed to ft stewart. I get to goto Atlanta for the 400th time since I've been in the Army.
