With the kind of accident this would deploy in, I would imagine it would probably be totalled anyway...

Great idea! Especially on a tourer with a bit more weight. I just filled out a Honda survey on their site asking about ABS breaks and whether they should be on every model of their bike. Sounds like Honda is trying to capture riders concerned with safety. Frankly, after witnessing a motorcycle head-on crash a few weeks ago I can totally see how these designs would increase the likelihood of a rider surviving a crash.

INteresting. Can't stop progress, and anything that may increase my chances of survival in the unlikely event of a crash sounds sweet to me. On the other hand, yeah, the front of this puppy will crumple pretty quick, even at low speeds, and the cost of replacing the entire front, including the airbag, will be .... yikes, expensive! Maybe we'll see more rebuilt with no air bag on the used market?!?
So, tell me people, are they messing up ONLY with the VFR concept or with other bikes as well?!? :blink:

After seeing two motorcycle hit head on on the dragon a couple of summers ago. an airbag is not that bad..besides don't the new wings already have them???

I made my own air bag for my VFR...I used some hefty trash bags and have it connected to a helium tank...that way when I crash the helium will lift me up above the accident scene and I also will be talking in a very funny voice. :laugh:

I just found a spy photo of honda's newest motorcycle!

Not only does it have airbags and a crumple zone honda also added two more tires! Well done Honda!

I have been looking for a Honda website with the VFR1200. The Honda site I've been visiting still has the VFR800 as the only sport V4, which I assume is discontinued now.

it was a pop-up on the homepage of the honda.ca website.

And it's still speculation at best, Honda has secured a number of patents for a V5 "sports" bike, where are they?
