I'm due for new tires and would like to powdercoat my ugly black wheels. I've seen blue, white, and gold....but has anyone done Red? I feel like red might look good but don't really want to gamble with 120 bucks or so that it will cost to powdercoat them.
I like the white but it will be hard to keep clean, no one but me seems to like the gold, and the blue is a little subdued.

Don't do red! All I can think of is 1980's Ninja 600.
While looks cool but it is something that you have to clean more often, blue could be cool if they are dark enough. But what do I know, I like black and hate gold.
strictly speaking for myself, the best-looking RWB i've ever seen had white wheels with an eight-spoker out back. wheels, regardless of color, are always the first part of the motorcycle to get dirty. do a quick wipe-down before every ride and you'll be fine.
Red to match the factory color would look good and even if I didn't think so, if you like it that is the only opinion that matters. Go for it. Maybe you will start a trend. :+1:
BTW, here is a pic from the NEKS meet that has a 5th gen with red wheels - imagine RWB with those. Cool!
thanks for the pics guys....if it were up to me I would be doing them gold but everyone I've talked to(girlfriend, brother, friends, parents, etc) all say it looks bad. The red in that photoshopped pic looks pretty good. might have to go for it.

they don't think gold wheels would look good on a sport bike with a red, white, and blue paint scheme? see if they like this one.
the above picture is the one I showed them, I really like it. I will likely end up going with that. Its my bike as we have all established. I am still thinking red though.

That looks good.. I have a RWB also, I think if you could match the factory red on the bike the red wheels would look sweet....
Add in a slim gold pinstripe alongside the red stripe on the bike to match the wheels and you are good to go.
Alternately, you could alkalide strip the wheels, clean them up with some Blue Magic metal polish (take you about 90 minutes and a couple of rags) and put a gold rim stripe on.
