Interceptor has always been a byname for the performance VFs, like Fireblade or Hurricane or Ninja. I suppose it's not important anymore since there's no VFxxxS Sabre and VFxxxC Magna anymore, but still the Interceptor name has been there for a long time.
All history aside, I'm not sad to see a lack of the name Interceptor. When I bought my 5th Gen 4 years ago, I set my insurance, then when USAA stopped carrying bikes and I switched carriers, the new one noticed the name, and my rates almost doubled. Some BS about historically the bikes have a crash record, riders get lots of tickets, etc...
I personally like the new bike. I hope that by the time I convince my wife that I need one to keep the S2000CR company they will have released the price and that the silver or the white one comes to the US...the white one would match my 5th gen...
Honda US hasn't said anything about the bike. All the info that's been release is Euro based, even the official brochure that was released. All the recent websites are Euro based.
It's still possible they might brand it Interceptor here.

You do realise the 'Interceptor' isn't called that outside of Mrka? Just like few Kawasaki models are called 'Ninjas'?
It's just a marketing/brand identity thing, for very brand-conscious consumers...
I do find it amusing that when a new/updated model of anything is introduced there is a hue-and-cry from the faithful about how it means the end of the brand. I saw the same thing happen when Chevy introduced the C6 Corvette, and when Mazda introduced the third-gen Miata. Now half the people who were saying, "it's ugly", "it ruins the spirit of the car", "it's the end of the brand" have upgraded and are singing the praises of the new model.
Why can't people just wait and see what happens instead of predicting the end of the world because something changed?
In keeping with the warplane theme, I'd think of the new VFR as less of an "Interceptor" (ie F14 TOmcat) and more of a "light bomber" or "fighter bomber" (ie F111)

Because most human beings are just whingers, sooks, cry-babies and grumpy feckers... never anything nice to say... brain the size of a planet and reduced to opening doors for people...
My first response is it is fugly. I really don't dig the front light and I always hated the side pipe. The first reason I wanted to buy a 6th gen was for the underseat exhaust.
However, it should be a good sell to must of the VFR people because it has what they wanted: bigger engine, inverted forks, what looks like a kick ass braking system and no v-tec. I mean really, it should be the thing. We're talking revolution not a simple evolution.
Last summer I went to Qu�bec and my friend let me used his ST1100 for vehicle. As much as I wanted to hate the bike, I couldn't. I am pretty sure most of you will end up thinking that way. I imagine that Honda is dropping the ST line and will have this bike to cover both markets, isn't it?
As for myself, I'm done with sports touring, so I can't ever like the new bike, but I think it will do really well.

Just need to keep things in perspective, it's just a bike.
And....what's a C6 Corvette and are they still making Miatas? (Are they still making vettes?)
