I Guess I'll Have To Ask.....?

After all the speculation that we've had over the past week. (Because no one has actually seen or ridden on one) :blink: . Who will be the first one from this site to actually buy the new VFR? :biggrin: I personally don't like the looks either but I sure would Love to have that "Motor" in my 6th Gen :blush:

I think Honda should just donate one to Slammer..... I mean, 14000 members.... millions of hits..... What better way to get everyone to "buy in" than to have him promote it? Just a thought if there are any Honda LURKERS reading.

Or at least Honda should pay HS to autograph bike (gen 7 serial #1) and sell it at auction for big dollars (with the proceeds going to VFRD)!

I'm holding out to see if the smaller one ever surfaces. I'm still from the "it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast" category. Not that the 6th gen is slow, but I've ridden a few of these big bore bikes, and they are just too boring to ride under 100mph. But I'll reserve judgement until the reviews come out....

Skuuter actually has one already. It was in a crate behind the CRF100F crate.

If I could afford a new bike right now I would have to check it out. A ride would (and will) be in order before I would commit to buying it though. If it handled like my 5th I would buy it hands down, thats my only real concern with the new VFR (handling) I dont like all of the styling cues of any gen VFR, little things I dont like about each (dumbo ears comes to mind!!)..The one and only complaint I have about my 5th is power plain and simple. My brother bought a 94' CBR 1000f (remember those!!??) And for 6 year older technology (carbs for crying out loud!!) it leaves my 5th like its tied to the road. My bike has power commander, -1 counter sprocket, and Jardine pipe..his is STOCK even with the big a** dual stock cans!!!! I know its not about drag racing, Im not into strait line anyway, but it sucks to bang down two gears just to pass a car and still have a discontinued older bike leave you in the dust after kicking down one gear..I mean damn!!!! If Honda didnt change but one thing and thats adds power, it would place the newbie VFR at the top of my list...I hope I dont HAVE to replace my VFR anytime soon ( you know unexpected reasons) but I have thought many times what I would buy next to replace it..and honestly only two other bike (before the 7th gen VFR) have interested my enough...The Busa ( feel the flames already), and the Sprint ( its getting hotter!!).. The busa would need Helibars and Im not sure it would be as comfy long dstance as my Viffer after that, and the Sprint scares me on the reliability factor, even though I have no bases to be worried other than I have never knew anyone who owned a Triumph sportbike..I treat my bike rough and I admit it and I wonder if the Triumph could take it like my VFR has..The other Triumph knock is that chrome strip at the lower part of the side fairing..Triumph WHY??? Its really tacky to me and looks really cheap...But I think the Triumph would out handle the busa by far ( I guess) and thats what i want.. Plus the busa scares me in the fact that I dont know if I could trust myself to good with that kind of power...And everyone knows the rep Busa riders gets instantly..the Triumph has the advantage in my head..But now that theres the REAL 7th Gen to consider, I just hope Honda didnt screw up and make it too much sport/TOUR..I can and am excitied about the shaftdrive, screw a chain with todays technology I'll take it. Im a year round rider so I dont want the extra chain routine anyway!!! Just like any gen before the new VFR is only going to attract a certain crowd of riders anyway, and we are a picky group!!!! Toro has the answer to my power needs and I have considered it many times, but I cant justify spending enough money to buy a nice used bike just to supercharge mine. Please someone here needs to buy a 7th and give some really indepth reviews!!!!!

Most likely will get one in spring 2011 After the normal recall issues are figured out and fixed. Plus I want the white one and have time to wait. My 5th gen Is holding strong.

Same here. If I did get one, it wouldn't be until about 2015 when I could afford it! By then I may leaning towards a cruiser anyway. No offense vifferheads.

As I stated in some other threads, it's between the new Viffer and the Connie (C14) for me next spring, but since the bike is for 2 up and is for the pillion, she'll be deciding based on which is comfortable enough. If there is no appreciable difference in comfort between them, and the ride-reviews are positive in comparison to the Connie, I'll have to get the new Viffer, to ADD to my garage... (Poor me...) :(

I've already pleaded with Honda Australia to let me have the first one in the country. :biggrin:

I'm definitely in the market and the new viffer looks like a serious contender. But the Cycle World Show doesn't arrive in Michigan until January, and I'm not buying it until I at least get a chance to sit on one. Someone else here will no doubt buy one before I even lay eyes on one in person.

Same here. I won't buy one until I can test ride one like a K13S. I honestly don't see that ever happening. :mad:

I'll have one. But it won't be this spring unfortunately. Bank still owns my current bike. And being unemployed at the moment, it's hard to put a serious dent in that debt.

But I will have one. So far it looks to address all of the issues I have with my 02. More torque; shaft drive; better suspension; better MPG. I'll take one with the hard bags thanks.

I'm gonna wait until the 3rd year re-style... The pug snout and blunt tail do not float my boat all that much in pics so far. Maybe in person it will look less like it got hit with the ugly stick - but I'm not holding my breath. Besides, it's more than a tad hefty - better ease up on the hydrogenated fats and high fructose for starters...

It's too heavy
Too small of a gas tank
I'm not a fan of "First Year" of anything (let the bugs get worked out)
Single sided swing arm/shaft drive (I hope this works out better than BMW)

I wish they had simply added a couple hundred CC to the 800, added the new "Race ABS" system, and increased all the dimensions by 1" to make it a bit roomier..........

(Although, the new Auto/Flipper/Standard transmission seems like a great idea!)

Talked to my local dealer yesterday... (Mach 1 in Vallejo), and James said that he already has 2 pre-ordered. I told him to call me when they arrive in the crate, so I can test ride one :biggrin: He said OK... I don't plan on buying one either, but the funny thing is, that my wife likes it :blink: Maybe we can get rid of her Yamaha FZ6 & get her the new VFR :cool:

If I were that interested, I would not hesitate to buy the first model year. Honestly, how many other models have had issues? The only big one I can think of were the cooling issues on the current Goldwing when it first came out, and they made good on that. Its like BMW and cars; they are pretty much good to go.

That said, I am kind of/ want to be/ might soon be in the market... I have been toying with selling both my bikes and getting one NICE bike. This is definitely a contender. But its probably not small/sporty enough to satisfy me for an ONLY bike (that's why I have 2 now!).
Wrench in works = I just knocked up my wife, so all bets are off :-(

I reserve judgment until I can see one in person. THink I will keep an eye open o for a 25th anniversary model. Or maybe a used K13s BMW.
