So here is what I had sent to me regarding the price of this future machine.......

"Thank you for your quote request on the 2010 Honda VFR1200F. We are
currently not offering online pricing for the requested model due to the
very dynamic market conditions surrounding this product. However, we will
have one of our sales representatives contact you within the next few
business days to review your request, discuss additional model options and
provide you with a no obligation price quote."

I am trying to figure out the "Dynamic market conditions " .

Supply and demand. They need to figure out what they can get for it.

During the cash for clunkers fiasco, the worst deal was on a 2010 toyota prius. Supply was low, demand high. Dealers were marking them up to 10k over sticker. Some folks paid up to 36-37K for a freaking prius.

I hope they realize that there is no place in the market for another 16K+ bike. 11-12K maybe but not more.

36-37K for a freaking prius. Suits them right. If I am selling and see an opportunity (read sucker) I take it. It is not my fault that some tree huggers are ain't that bright.

37k is a little much but it is a very good car.

37K, for that price it'd better come with a V8 crate motor strapped to the back for me to put in my truck.

Current model VFR's sticker price here is around the $17k mark, but discounts can be had, of course. Given the 92c per 1 US sawbuck at the moment exchange rate, I'd be amazed if the 7th Gen doesn't sell for over 20k Aussie.

If it really does come in at $17K I predict that we'll be able to get some decent deals on some 2010 VFR that will still be sitting in crates in 2013.

That's what I'm guessing will end up happening.
Too bad there will not be a 2013

That is Marketing speak for "we don't know what the Yen vs US$ is going to be at product release"

Aisan manufactures are taking a beating on their profit margins due to the weak US$

Read today that Honda will move some small car manufacturing over here to hedge the dollar.

Kinda wierd, week US$, more jobs.

Same thing happens in Aussie land mate, but in reverse. Your dollar goes up, therefore our dollar is considered "down against the greenback" and suddenly everybody wants to buy raw materials from Australia because the exchange rate is so good.
In particular, the local GM brand - Holden - was exporting cars to the USA as the Pontiac G8 (or was that R8?) when our dollar was weak. When yours goes down, all these fancy ideas stop dead.

I honestly hope your economy picks up soon because it sounds like it is seriously frakked up over there right now. I heard of some counties shrinking their municipal boundaries to avoid having to spend money on maintaining them!

Kaldek,
funny you mention GM and the G8/Holden. Here in Saginaw Mi we assemble the new Camaro's front and rear brakes for the reason you stated.
Since the Camaro is heavily based on the G8 they would have imported components but found that it was to expensive so, GM hedged that that would not be changing anytime soon so they decided to build the brakes in the states. The Camaro brakes were engineered at Holden though.

I haven't heard of shrinking municipalities but there are pockets that are hurting. The schools will feel most of it because of dropping property values.
Inflation will be our next challenge.
Everything will be ok though as long as people remember whats important. Family and motorcycles.

Back on topic, I don't see how the VFR1200 will be less than 15k US. I think this will be a problem for Honda. Where is a mid(125ish) powered S/T bike
for average joes? Ive heard rumors about it here but if they do release a VFR1000R it needs to be a less techy(cost)
, chain drive(cost/mass) easy to work on and about 10-11K. Oh well, I think the wheelbase on the new bike kills any idea of this though.

I like that idea. It worked for me with my brand new leftover 07. And by that time I'll be ready for a new one.

I think the base model in the US will be $15,995 and fully loaded will approach $19,000 USD....and the new Aprilia V-4 will be $15,000 base model and $21,000 for the factory version with full bling Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes...

Guess which new V-4 my dad is going to want?

Hope he's not making his decision based solely on price, because the new VFR and the RSV4 are completely different bikes.

Market conditions are bad, but they won't give it away. That's for sure.

This thing is good for at least 5 years of production, sales projections will be made over this time frame if not beyond.

This just pi**es me off. The auto industry is in the doldrums, according to everything you read the economy is still in the tank, what got us here was people overspending, and yet this kind of stuff perpetuates. Nice to see the country (individuals and corporations alike) pulling together to get through this.

Nothing weird about it. Companies will always go where the labor is cheaper, because labor is still a HUGE cost associated with making stuff. Canada has benefited from that incredibly in the past couple of decades. Look how many movies and television shows are produced in Canada due to the lower cost of production because of the (historically) weak Canadian dollar.

Dont worry, I wont be buying the RSV4 based on price. I want a V4 sport bike not a touring bike. There is nothing wrong with touring but my 5th gen is comfy and heavy enough for that duty.

Really hoping to get the RSV4 Factory model...we shall see.

woudl be great to have one of each, the new Honda with a DCT and all touring accoutrements and the RSV for fundays.
