Could anyone help with a conversion to an rc-51 front end on my 03 vfr. I was wondering about ride height?. I am about to change the forks and have sp-1 lowre 929 upper with sp-1 forks wheel etc. I am worried that the ride height might have to change larger than the 5mm i have planned. If anyone could help much appreciated

Welcome to VFRD Adam!

Many members have done these swaps and are very knowledgeable on the subject, I am not.
Someone should be responding soon to your request.

Good luck and add pics!

Not sure on the 6th gen, sorrry. Kerry129 just did it on a 5th gen. You can PM him. He is an engineer and i'm sure can help, hell of a great guy as well.

Did you search? I cant recall anyone doing the swap on a 6th gen.

What's your specific question? The ride height may end up changing more than 5mm, it depends somewhat on your setup. I ended up adding almost 25mm ride height to the rear of my 5th gen after the conversion, ymmv.

Hi Adam from another Adam :)

What you will also need is a set of Helibars to suit a CBR929 RR. This will allow you to mount the bars above the 929 (or 954) upper triple clamp, and acheive a similar bar-height as the VFR.

When I build my Frankenviffer I measured everything and think it changed the front ride height by about 8mm.

Adam, this might help you if you haven't already seen it.

It's a 5th gen, but close enough to get you where you're going.

Mate if you are going to the Snowy Ride make sure you try to contact me. I will be there from thurs 5th to Sunday 8th so you can have a good look at my bike. Also, Kirby will be there from friday 6th to Sunday 8th with his SP2 front on his Vtec.

Between us we will be able to answer many of your questions. I've just fitted Ohlins valves to my forks so had everything to bits only last week.

We are staying at Mad Mooses in Jindabyne, I'll pm you my phone number.

Cheers
AB
