How much can I increase the spring rate without re valving... My calculated spring rate is .95 without valving would the rebound damping be to harsh...Think of trying a straight rate .85 spring with 7.5 w oil

Hard to say. Depends on your weight, use. All you can do is try it. What shock do you have?

Actually rebound valve damping should increase when you increase the spring rate. Heavier oil could help in that respect realizing of course that heavier oil will also increase your compression damping which could show up as 'harshness' during the compression stroke. Have you or are you going to use a suspension valve upgrade? Such as the Race Tech Gold Valves.
Race Tech supplies a chart with their rebound Gold Valve which is easy to use, more spring = more damping. Compression damping on the other hand requires that you use their web calculator, one time 5 minutes only but they will reply quickly to email with additional settings/shim stacks. Just be sure to provide all your user information ie: bike, weight (yours and the bikes), type of riding, which Gold Valves you're using etc. etc.

Can't help much yet, but I'm in the process of putting in .9 springs (i'm about 88kg) into my 5th gen without re-valving. I've re-valved and re-sprung my 929 shock though but again I haven't shoved it into my bike yet - I'll let you know how it goes in the coming weeks.
