will the bike fit in a minivan?

Will an 06 fit in a pontiac montana minivan? Does anyone have measurements of how tall the bike would be with some peices removed if necessary?

No way it would fit correctly and not get damaged.

Thieves use them but they just throw them in the van sideways. They just lay it down.

How would you tie it down?

A 4wheeler wouldn even fit in my truck with a super tall camper shell. It looked like it would but wasnt even close.

I say dont even try it.

I've stuffed many a VFR into a Ford Econoline type van. I had to remove the center hinge for loading. Mirrors were not removed but if I had lower clearance I would remove those and the wind screen.

I strapped it down using the front seat mounts and rear side mounts.

It feels a little silly driving down the road and looking into the rear view mirror, with that biker tailgating like that.....

Montana should be about the same inside height as a Grand Caravan and I could only get a bike inside that by laying it over to about 45 degrees. Not the best way to transport a bike.

I had to put my 04 the back of a Honda Oddysee minivan...I had to remove the windscreen, I think it went in pretty easy. The wind screen comes off really easy with 4 bolts, Two phillips, and two 5mm . then it lifts right out! Take out all the seats and you should be left with a few good places to attach you tie downs to. a couple of 4x4's against the driver and pasenger seat will keep it from joining you up front. :fing02:

I would say it would be easier with an Astro van. But I guess you don't have one of those.....

why not just rent a trailer for the day. Other than the salt from the road, should make it a hell of a lot easier.

I would be most concerned about safety, handling 225kg in a tight spot is not for the faint of heart. And I'm not sure your typical minivan is designed to support so much weight over its rear axle!

A motorcycle trailer costs 15$/day up here. Simplicity comes cheap. In this case anyhow.

Isn't that only about 500 lbs? I would think a minivan can handle 500 pounds. It has a 5 people seating capacity back there. I'd think they designed it to carry 5 adults, or 4 adults would still be well over 500 lbs. Am I wrong on this?

I doubt very much it would fit in a minivan. When I picked mine up from PA this past fall, I rented a full size cargo van. With that, there wasn't much roof clearance left. I would definitely get a trailer, it's a lot easier. You've got the low load height compared to any van, mini or full size, and no worry about top clearance.

As for strapping it down, I use my Baxley sport chock and some tie downs.

Yeah they build minivans to haul at least 4 adults in the rear....your right!

Like I said before, I had to take off my wind screen, but after that It went right in.... :fing02:

I got my '03 VFR into my '05 Mazda MPV, by removing mirrors and windshield...so if you have to do, I'm sure it's possible!

I was so excited I forgot to take pictures of it in the van. But it fit. We had to come in the side door but it fit in a Montana...

But I don't see a VFR fitting in any minivan except an Astro or Windstar, and even then there'd be a windscreen to remove.
