Sargent Seat fitment -- 6th Generation

A few months ago, I found a Sargent seat for my bike listed in the Marketplace. Right place at the right time, I scooped it for a great price. My bike's been down since my accident, so I haven't been able to ride with it yet. I broke it out and fitted it to the bike and it seems to fit fine, it just won't "latch" into place.

When I press down on the rear section of the seat, it goes into the latch mechanism. However, it pops right up if you pull up on the end. I'm pretty sure it's not my latch/bike as the stock seat firmly latches into place. Is there something I'm overlooking or do I need to check something on it?

A quick search didn't show yield anything relevant, so I'll pose my question to the "mob". Any thoughts appreciated.

Bang on the end of it a little and then turn it over to see where it impacts. Then take a razor blade and scoop some of the material from the seat. That's what I had to do with mine.

I had to do the same thing. I believe I ground down a couple of the supports where it rides on the back bone. Thousands of miles later, it's all good.

Odd. Mine fit perfectly out of the box - better than the stocker, actually.

Mine fits really well too. I do run into your problem once in a while, and what I have to do to fix that is give it a tap forward, then it locks right in. :cheerleader:

Mine is half way in between what is reported here. If I press firmly it will lock, if I try and just "pop" it in like the stock seat it fakes me into thinking it's locked but it's not and will pop up if pulled on.

Having mod'ed these my seat drops on like a sub with a screen door.

Thanks for the replies. I went out and fiddled with it a bit more and got it to latch into place. I had to do the bump it forward, then down bit as suggested by Seb. I will also take a peek to see if it's bumping anywhere and trim if necessary. Thanks for the graphic Monk, I'll check those spots for sure.
