Having owned VFRs for over 20 yrs I've had my share of red ones. I picked up a '97 a few yrs ago, and although I like it as much as all the others, the paint was just wearing on me a bit. After an untimely tip over, and some sandblasting during a 29 palms duststorm, I decided it needed a facelift. A few weekends of wetsanding, cussing, and measuring and it was ready for paint. I dropped it off at Trackaholics in Oceanside and here are the results. Hope you like them! The color I picked matches the Kawa ZX-6R

Great color! I like the color of the decals you picked too... Really goes nice with your can and the frame of the bike. Very subtle...Looks like factory... Nice! I hope my bike looks half as nice 10yrs from now...

Ahh yer right. I had already planned to replace the reflective red with reflective blue. Finished that up last night and haven't taken pics yet. Put a few hundred miles on it today in the mountains(even saw snow!) and it rides just as well as it did when it was blue. More pics when I have daylight and the bike is parked. Its had almost 17k since I bought it 3 yrs ago. Thats not bad, unless you add in 19k on the BMW, another 3K on the Aprilia, and the 2-3 miles I pushed the yamahahahaha.

Now on to my next upgrade. I "found $400. so what to do next? I don't think it has a factory jet kit, the corbin seat is pretty ugly, Sargent could probably do a better job and lighter than a boat oar, maybe rear Wilbers shock(blue spring)? I had a Wilbers before and it really transformed the rear end control. Possibly an HID upgrade. Its already had full front racetech kit, EBC HH pads, slip on pipe and K&N. Ok I think your right, that Corbin seat has to go....to me....Heck Ill even give you a few dollars for her and if you need a stock seat, I have one of those too.
She looks great. How much was the paint job, if you don't mind me asking. I live in Oceanside and am looking for a place that does good paint work for a competitive price.
Digging the new color. :fing02: Not the blue I was expecting to see when I read the thread title. Most people do a royal blue, which looks great, but I like this one, too.
As for the rim stripes, I probably would have gone with silver to match the body and tank decals, but I bet the blue looks great.

Not a bad idea. I liked the original seat, and tons lighter. I submitted my 01 RSVR for Sargent to use a model for their seats. I liked their work and the carbon weave still looks good. I might consider your deal.
