I got antzy and put my own money into the pot and made a great deal to get a new vfr1200! I put a deposit down today! I am flying into Oklahoma City where the reps at Shawnee Honda Motorsports in Shawnee, Oklahoma will be waiting to pick me up to take me to the dealership. They are comming to get me and I am riding the bike home to Colorado! Wow I cant believe this is actually happening. Today the insurance finally started to move along in a positive direction for the old girl too! I am a very happy guy. I dont know who would have thought this sort of thing could happen to a guy like me.
Anybody want to come? I know its a ways away Dutchinterceptor, Shade, Lee2002, GSwanson, Rapidsnipe? I have the flaf too!

HS , congrates you deserve this more then you know.. We your fellow VFRD followers have to be very proud of what we have help to acheive. I hope your claim with insurance goes smoothly and you get top dollar for
a bike that is more then a older VFR but a icon and its WWW famous too. The story of how we all stepped up to help you is something my wife tells most of her clients and they all say the same thing "KOOL".

This is kinda bittersweet for me, as I really wanted you to get this bike, but I haven't contributed yet, as I have a very expensive heart operation this coming Friday, which is only partly covered by insurance, so I won't be in a position to contribute until after everything's settled up. As a result, I feel like I've let the team down badly. :goofy:
In a couple of week's time things will be a bit less crazy for me - perhaps I can contribute to any shortfall in the fund, or something towards accessories?

Hopefully you get a fair shake for the '98 and add that to the "great deal" you got on the new ride so it will cancel out the ~$3700 shortfall in the fund drive. :fing02:
Oh, and when you pick up the bike and ride it out of the parking lot, make sure that Shade is running your VIDEO CAMERA for the entire event so you can upload it to VFRd for us all to enjoy!!!!

When speculation started about the 7gen about 4-5 years ago I suggested a shaft as Ive owned a ST1100 for years and your response was NFW!(couldn't find post as I think you cleared out old stuff from server) Glad you've come over to the dark side of shafties!
Saw one at a dealership a couple of days ago and looks great in the plastic.

Well nothing goes on without some sort of hitch. Gov-a-ment clerk says my certificate of origin from American Honda was not filled out properly by the dealership who failed to fill in the Odometer section as said forth by federal law ect ect - and in so doing I must send it back to have said document filled out in accordance with previously stated law to certify that the bike is indeed NEW and how many miles it was sold at? Jebus so says the Colorado Beuro of BS and time wasting! Two trips to the DMW already to get the VIN number verified, now this. Wasted a whole day on this crap! Girl who f'ed up the paperwork in the first place at the dealership had already gone home, I hope she can legally sign this thing now that the bike has 2008 miles on it already? Fed ex it there and back before my temp tags expire on the 19th!
I saw some other related threads but missed this 1 before.
Too bad the paperwork is a pain. Still a great story. Human interest, soft news type.

Nup, no joke. Had my chest cut open on June 18th, mitral valve repaired, and everything put back together. (Ha - the bill made interesting reading: included were $71 for stainless steel wire, $1830 for a plastic ring, $1345 for sutures, and $115 for "use of power tools". :laughing6-hehe:
Spent six days in the (private) hospital before being released. Spent all of a few hours at home before having to phone for an ambulance, due to atrial fibrillation, and then spent 7 days in the local public hospital. Been home now for nearly 2 weeks, and I'm walking up to 5 or 6 km a day, and getting bored...
Still, it's all good, and we're planning already for a European vacation next year to replace the one we had to abort. Oh - and the operation came in at $6k less than the $50K+ they estimated. :fing02:
